Empty campus
Lawns soaked
With morning dew
Silence
Covering all
The morning sum
Poking over buildings
In the distance
Crisp, clean, fresh
Air fills my lungs
Tranquilly
Suddenly
From the buildings
A ringing chime
Fills the ears
Of thousands
Automatically,
A rush of sound
And chaos
Fills the quiet
As thousands
Of students
Rush from class
To class
A thousand students
A thousand
Shoes
A thousand
Shirts and
Colors and
Moods
A thousand
Looks,
A thousand
Eyes
A sea
Of eyes peering
At me, washing
Over me,
But not seeing
Anything
Just one of their
Own
Just another one
Thousands of faces,
All different
Different colors,
And shades of hair:
Blue, pink, red, brown,
Blond, auburn, green, black
A thousand hearts
A thousand souls
A thousand hopes and dreams
As they all
Settle in their
Seats,
All becomes silent again,
Until
The next bell rings.
