AN: This is a short drabble for ActionFry. She was the fifth review on my fiftieth story. :]]

Dawning of The New

By: Karasu Kyra

Misa Amane smiled and giggled as she popped the top on a bottle of sparkling juice. She then handed it to Light Yagami, their hands brushing, making her that much more giddy. Light grabbed three glasses and poured the three occupants of the room a glass—one for him, one for Misa, and one for Ryuuzaki. He then passed them out and held his up.

"Looking for Kira has been a hard thing, but we will catch him. I know it. To the capture of Kira."

Ryuuzaki gave him a look. It was one of those expressionless looks that made him think that maybe (only perhaps!) the dark-haired detective didn't think he was Kira—because he wasn't Kira, was he? He didn't murder people, didn't want to take over the world. He just wanted to go to college, become a doctor or a cop—someplace he could help people.

The blonde raised her glass, knocking it against his own and Ryuuzaki followed. To capture Kira was all that consumed the dark-haired man's mind. This man who was trying to play God. It could not be. He would stop it. But then, isn't he only trying to play God, as well?

The girl of the room looked at her beloved. He was her light, her Light. It didn't matter if he was Kira, or Light, or even Ryuuzaki so long as he was hers in the end. And on this New Year's Eve, she smiled, because he would be hers.

On the dawning of a New Year, all their thoughts and resolutions remained the same—repetitive but with a firmer solidity, even more determined than before.

AN: I'm sorry, ActionFry, that it's so short. I have writer's block. I might make it longer if I get unblocked! lol
