Truly at peace
There you sit, beneath the surface of the water, knowing you must soon come up for air-and suddenly you forget how to resurface. You open
your eyes to the water moving around you, the panic is growing inside of you with every swish the water makes.
You would like to open your mouth and shout for help, but then you remember that doing so would only be foolish-your lungs would fill all too
quickly with the cold, salt infested water. You start to thrash your legs and arms erratically, the act only makes you more tired. Your ears are
filled with the water, you wish you could flush them out. You examine your hands- pruned beyond belief. All the while the waters firm hands
are pulling you deeper and deeper to where they think you belong. You stare up at the surface to see the sun reflecting on the face of the
water, it makes the slightest temperature change to your ever freezing skin. As you plunge deeper into nothingness, your brain is moving
faster than it ever has. You need to fight the water, yet you want to obey it. You need to push yourself out of the sand that rest at the bottom,
and yet you would like nothing more than to tilt your head back, and relax your muscles, you need to make your body move again, yet the
numbness causes you a pleasure you could only conjure up from the most hidden place of your imagination. Your life does not flash before
your eyes, it movies in a steady, even rhythm. The pain in your lungs from the damage of the water is slowly subsiding, your heart beat is
now slowing it's pace, the sound is soon replaced by the gentle vibrations of the water. You eyelids close for the final time, and then… you are truly at peace.
Please Review, it makes me smile =]
