I do not own the justice league or any characters in this fic. I also do not own care bears or any of the board games etc mentioned.
It was a sultry night. Hot and humid, the air seemed to weigh upon your skin and saturate everything within minutes of going outside. A lithe woman in a dark cape and pointy-eared mask was crouching on the top of an abandoned building. Beside her, a man in a blue coat and fedora stood, his eyes glued to a pair of binoculars aimed at the building directly across the street.
'Remind me again why we're hiding on the top of a building rather than doing something more... interesting at home?' whispered the Huntress into the Question's ear.
The Question ignored the tingle down his spine, caused only by the proximity of one Helena Bertinelli. 'Across the street, a major business deal is going down between Parker Brothers manufacturing and the government. Microscopic cameras will be inserted into Care bears and then doled out to the unsuspecting youth. Monopoly, Clue and Trivial Pursuit will all be changed to manipulate the thinking of the general public. Within years, the entire world will be constantly observed and brainwashed, except for the select few who resist the temptation of materialistic entities such as Care bears and Strawberry Shortcake which are evil but oh so cute.'
Helena eyed him with the weary look of someone who had long since given up. 'I don't know what I saw in you when I first asked you out. Were you always this crazy?'
The Question smiled. 'I used to be crazier, but now part of my crazy is aimed at a particular someone. I'm crazy about her.' He leaned in and kissed her cheek, relishing the smell of her long dark hair. Green apples. Roses. That perfume she always wore. And that smell that was so distinctly Helena, sweet but with and edge, beautiful yet...
A door slammed from across the street jolting him out of his reverie. Two shadowy figures were walking quickly from the building to a sleek, dark car. One of them was clutching a bulky suitcase to his chest. The other looked surreptitiously behind him every five steps, unintentionally doing a hilariously accurate impression of the Question at his most paranoid.
'Who've known? Care Bears and mind control are connected. That guy's more paranoid than you, Q.' With that, The Huntress shot her grapple into the building across the street and swung towards the men who were almost at their would-be getaway car. A few jabs and roundhouse kicks later both men were lying on the ground wondering what had hit them. The Question was fishing through a briefcase which had been dropped during the rather one sided fight between Huntress and the two men.
'Huhm. As I suspected, altering Monopoly to urge on capitalist values. Dumbing down Clue to stop people questioning the government and, oh God it's worse than I thought, INTRODUCING A LADY GAGA BOARDGAME! He entire population would've gone crazy trying to form nonsensical lyrics out of single syllables and then repeating them over and over and over, leaving their minds distracted and blank enough for the government to swoop.'
'I don't know whether to call you a genius or completely delusional. I'll stick with delusional genius.'
'I see the connections, Helena. Although our work here is far from done. These two are small fish in the big ocean of corruption, Care bears, board games and the government. The people higher up will still continue with their plans of world dominance via seemingly innocent plush toys and board games. We must-'
'Save it, Q,' said Helena, putting a hand over where The Question's mouth should have been. You owe me a date.'
A/N: this is my first fanfic. please review, i know the concept is a little (okay a lot) crazy but it was fun to write.
