Alright, here's my second one-shot I was challenged to do. This time, it's from 101 giraffes. The challenge: write a story about Perry and Melody.

I'll be honest, I kinda cheated. Melody actually isn't there. It is about her, but this story is between Perry and Monogram. Takes place in the middle of chapter 5 of the story 'The start of OWCA'.

Sorry the story is short.

And I don't own any of these characters.

"Perry! Get back here this instant!"

The small platypus just continued to run. He couldn't do this again. Not after what had happened.

Major Monogram ran after the small blur of teal. "Perry, you are going to take a bath now! We don't have time for this!"

Perry shook his head as he ran. There was no way he was going to let Major Monogram give him a bath.

There was only one person he would. And she wouldn't be helping him again.

As Perry dashed into a room, he skidded to a stop. There was no way for him to avoid being caught here.

As if to answer his thoughts, he felt a pair of hands grab him. "Gotcha!" Monogram exclaimed.

Perry began to struggle as Monogram carried him to the tub filled with warm, soapy water. He continued to struggle as he was lowered into the tub. He even struggled as Monogram scrubbed him.

"What is the matter with you, Perry?" he asked. "You never struggled for..."

He trailed off, realizing the problem. "She's the only one who's given you a bath."

Perry stopped struggling with a nod. Tears began to fall from his eyes.

He still couldn't believe she was gone. From the moment she had saved him from the garbage disposal, he had been her platypus. She had bathed him, fed him waffles, even allowed him to keep a bed of cookies. And now she was gone.

Why did Melody have to die?

Monogram lifted the soaked platypus from the water and pulled into a hug. "I miss her, too," he said simply.

Perry hugged him and began to sob. Even though Monogram was the closest thing the platypus had to a daddy, Melody had been special. Monogram would never take Melody's place.

As if he had read Perry's mind, Monogram spoke. "Perry, I know I'm not Melody. I can't take her place. But we have to be strong. She wouldn't want us to fall apart without her."

He returned Perry to the bath. "Now please let me finish," he pleaded. "The funeral is in an hour."

So Perry let Monogram was him.

But he would never forget who had been there first. He would never forget his Melody.

Just thought this would work.
