Rings were being forged for the races of Middle Earth. Three were made for
the Elves, seven were made for the Dwarves, and nine were made for men.
Sauron saw in this moment his chance to control all of Middle Earth. No one
saw his threat, and no one saw him for what he could do. He would first
take over the kings of men. They were weak, and would easily give in to the
want of power. He would create his own army and no one would be able to
stop him.
He thought the plan over very carefully. He thought of ever detail and went over it again. The only thing left for him to do was for him to create his own ring. The one ring that would be able to control all others and then his domination would be complete.
In what would come to be known as the Cracks of Doom, he forged his ring. He bound his life force to the ring, so that if he died, he would have a chance to come back and complete his goal. He did not want to fail, for if he did, he would be dead and his dream in the dust.
Domination was almost complete, but there was one thing that Sauron did not intend to happen. The ring, as he soon found out, had a will of it's own.
Sauron never wanted the evil to be so absolute. He didn't want so many men to die. He didn't want to destroy what once was. He just wanted to rule it and never be underestimated again.
But the ring had other plans. The ring wanted to destroy everything that would get in its way. It would brainwash people, and then use them to do what it wanted.
Sauron could control it at a limited power. He could just barely keep it from destroying everything. Finally, Sauron's will gave in. The ring took him and Sauron became the evil and insane thing that he never wanted to become.
On the slope of Mount Doom, his power was tested. The men and elves marched against his huge and powerful army in a pitiful attempt to stop him. He knew that it was folly. Him and the ring were absolute. Absolute power, absolute evil, and absolute victory.
He marched out in the middle of the battle with the ring on his finger. Somehow he could not take it off. He took his mace, and began to finish off the last men and elves that were still standing against him. Victory for Sauron and the Ring were at hand.
Suddenly before Sauron even knew what was happening, the ring fell to the ground along with his four fingers. For what felt like the first time in ages, he felt pain. He screamed in agony. Finally, for a split second, he was himself again. What he was before the ring and before the deaths, and before the destruction.
He saw that he had made a monster and turned himself insane. For 3,000 years people would die for what he did. His dream had been finished off before he had even had a chance to prove himself. All that Sauron had wanted was the power. He didn't want the deaths. But his stupidity had caused himself this and cause all of Middle Earth the pain and burden it did not deserve.
Then quite suddenly, he was an eye. And eye ever searching for a ring that it had lost. The Ring that had causes him to go slowly insane. The Ring that was his burden along with a lone hobbit. He would no longer remember what he had seen at that split second 3,000 years ago, but it did not matter.
Sauron was now one with the ring and the ring now had control over him. He was insane and ruthless, all because of his stupidity.
