New story here. I was inspired by a movie I watched over the weekend and had to write this down. But I assure anyone who reads, I'm going to make this story my own, its just the overall plot that might be similar. If you understand what I mean.

My writing in this chapter may not be the best, but I'm writing through the eyes of a six year old. So please understand.

I hope you enjoy and review if you like it!

Disclaimer: I do not own Degrassi.

Prologue

"8, 9, 10! Ready or not here I come."

I looked around the backyard and ran towards the big tree in the corner. I pouted when no one was behind the tree and continued looking around. It couldn't be that hard to find them, we played Hide and Seek all the time! I searched through the tool shed next and squealed in delight when I saw Darcy hidden in the far corner.

"Gotcha!" I giggled as Darcy came out.

"Yeah, yeah. But you still have to find Eli," she said in her regular upset voice. Its been awhile now since she's changed. She doesn't smile as often or talks to anyone who isn't her 'older' friends. I'm surprised she still plays Hide and Seek with me.

"Right," I bent down and started to walk across the grass as if I were a spy in one of those movies daddy likes to watch.

"What are you doing?" Darcy asked in mean voice that made me stop pretending right away.

"I'm trying to be a spy. Like in those movies," I told her, sad that she ruined my fun.

"Stop it then, its stupid," she walked over to the other side of the yard and my lips started to tremble.

Tears slipped down my cheeks but I wiped them away and decided to find Eli. I stomped over to any other place where I thought he would be until I reached the small bush that was hidden in the back. I went down on my knees and pushed the branches away.

"AHHHHHHHH!"

Eli tackled me from the bush and we fell to the ground. I didn't have time to be scared; Eli was already tickling my sides and I couldn't stop laughing.

"E-Eli p-please…..stop!" I begged and tried to pull away but he jumped off of me and plopped down on the grass beside me.

"You are so terrible at this game!" Eli laughed, looking up at the sky. The clouds were white and fluffy today and I could make out animal shapes from some of them.

"I try my best, that counts doesn't it?" I asked.

"Sure," he bumped shoulders with mine and looked at me with his bright green eyes.

I really liked his eyes. They were as green as the grass and always shine when we're outside. I never told them though. He would probably call me weird and I didn't want him to think that. He's been my best friend forever and the only one to make me smile when I was upset.

"You finally found him," Darcy said, walking over to us. "Come on, mom wants us home for dinner."

I jumped up from the grass and Darcy grabbed my hand.

"Bye, Eli!" I waved while she dragged me out of the yard.

"Why are they moving mommy?" I asked while laying my head on her lap. She stroked my hair and I started to cry when she told me Eli was going away forever.

"Eli's father was given a job promotion far away, sweetie. They have to move to be closer to the job," she said it in a quiet voice that made my ears tingle each time. I liked that voice. But I was still upset.

"Can we move with them?"

"I'm afraid not, honey," she laughed and placed a kissed on my cheek. "But you can visit Eli as much as you want before they go. Cece and Bullfrog said it was fine."

"Okay."

Days went by and I spent everyday at Eli's. I would help him pack and we would play games all day until it was dark and Darcy would pick me up. Eli didn't seem very upset when we talked about him moving.

"I don't really care," he lifted his shoulders and his dark hair went over his eyes.

"You don't? Aren't you going to miss it here?"

I wanted him to tell me he was going to miss me as I much as I would miss him, but Eli didn't really tell people what they wanted to hear.

"Not really. Moving is like…another step in my life. You know what I'm saying?" he pushed his hair away as he looked over at me.

I shook my head.

He sighed before getting off his bed. "Of course you wouldn't. You're just a kid."

He sounded angry when he said those words and I was angry he called me a kid.

"I'm six and half! You're eight. We aren't that far apart," I pouted, crossing my arms.

"Whatever," he said, returning to his packing.

The big day soon arrived and my family and I were outside of Eli's house as their things were going in the moving truck. Mommy and daddy were talking to Cece and Bullfrog and they all looked upset. They were all best friends like Eli and me.

"You'll like it in Saskatchewan," Darcy stood beside me and she was staring Eli down and giving him a smile. I was shocked she could still give one.

"Yeah, my parents said I would," Eli scratched the back of his head and he scowled when he looked at me. "Don't cry, Clare."

"I can't….you're leaving me," I sniffled. "I thought we were best friends forever."

He gave me a hug but quickly let go when I was starting to cry in his shirt.

"It's all part of the adventure, Clare. Change can be a good thing for both of us," he smiled.

"I don't like it. I never will," I shook my head.

"So stubborn," I heard Darcy say.

"Eli, we're going now!" Cece called.

Eli punched my shoulder before laughing.

"Don't worry too much. You'll be fine," he said before running off towards his parents.

Mommy and daddy came over to Darcy and me and watched as they got in their car and drove off. Eli was looking out the back window and giving me a wave.

I waved in return.
