Portrait of the Perfect Soldier

The purpose of all battle is for the betterment of mankind. Only through battles may humans grow and develop. However, in these battles it is necessary to sacrifice those who define battle.

In doing so, humanity may further itself. But for the sacrificing of the warriors the flames of progress would never climb higher.

However, death is not the only sacrifice. In order to sacrifice his humanity, a soldier needs not give his life, only his soul. The difference between Heero Yui and the other soldiers is that Heero Yui did not give his soul. Destiny put him in the care of those who would take it from him. They replaced his humanity with the desire to battle. So that his only purpose is battle.

The problem that arises from this is that when a human being's only purpose is battle. He is no longer fighting to further humanity. He will become no more than a machine. no better than the mobile dolls he fights.

For him to transcend this he must see his adversary. He must also see his path...

Treiz looked up from his desk and gazed across the room to the open hanger. Inside a metallic figure was hunched. Smiling, Treiz whispered, "And that my friend Epyon, is where you come in..."
