Pride

noun

a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements

synonyms: pleasure, joy, delight, gratification, satisfaction

Fenris always loved proving others wrong. In other words, he loved being right. After being a slave - silenced and thought of as unintelligent for so many years - being seen as someone who held accurate knowledge gave him an appealing sense of pride.

He was most fond of being right about mages - especially blood mages. Never trust a mage, for they are, "...a viper in your midst," he would say. In Tevinter he knew this to always be true. However, when his travels lead him to Kirkwall, a single exception to his beliefs rooted its way into Fenris's mind and heart. This exception was none other than the Champion of Kirkwall herself. Though, at the time she weaseled her way into his life, Hawke was little more than a lowtown smuggler.

What was peculiar about this exception was that Fenris didn't quite mind that he was proven wrong. At first he was weary of her. Hawke's eyes were none like he had ever seen before. They seemed to glow with a magick far beyond that of a regular mage - he had never seen eyes so strikingly blue. At first he distrusted, but soon he grew to love.

Fenris had never been so happy to be so wrong about anything in his entire life.
