When the Cat Taught the Dog a Manners Lesson

Her Majesty, Queen Helen of Narnia had never witnessed the sight in front of her before in four years of ruling over Narnia with her husband, Frank, and seventeen years of living in England. Although, perhaps she shouldn't have been too surprised considering which two Narnians were involved, a Cat and a Dog...a very young Dog.
The Cat, a gorgeous golden tabby, shook his head at the young Labrador who was still more puppy than adult. "You uncouth creature, have you heard a word any of us have said to you concerning your manners in the last year?"
The young Labrador tilted his head, "What's uncouth mean?"
Queen Helen clapped a hand over her mouth to keep from giggling when the Cat muttered, "I shall take that as a 'no'. Uncouth means you are behaving in an uncivilized manner. And, in this case, you have truly outdone yourself in reaching new levels of uncouthness. Honestly, how many times have you been told not to pick up everything you see in your mouth? Are you listening to me?"
The Labrador didn't answer, being preoccupied with staring up at a pair of squirrels hopping through the tree branches above. The fur on the Cat's tail stood on end as his irritation grew with the unfortunate pup. Queen Helen watched wide-eyed as the Cat suddenly reached up with both paws and grabbing either side of the Labrador's face, pulled him down so he was now nose-to-nose with the Cat who hissed, "Listen, you uncouth creature! Beasts with good manners do not go around picking up everything in their mouths that they happen to come across, and they especially do not pick up little dead birds or present those little dead birds to the Princess. Do not do it again."
The Labrador whined, "But, Sitka, I was showing her what I found. She asked to see."
Sitka released his grip on the pup and shook his head, "Princess Gwyneth is not yet two and showing her the dead little bird made her cry." His tail twitched a moment then he bopped the Labrador on the muzzle, "Do not bring any more dead little birds into the palace, Juneau."
Juneau tilted his head then wagged his tail, "What about a dead squirrel?"
Sitka hissed then turned around and shook his foot at the cowering Labrador before stalking off. Queen Helen shook with the force of her repressed laughter as the pup started to follow the Cat, only to go tearing off in the other direction after hearing his father, Marley, shouting for him. Queen Helen shifted Gwyneth from her right hip to her left as she looked up to meet Chiron's amused gaze. "How long do you think Sitka's lesson will remain in that young pup's head?"
The Centaur chuckled, "Perhaps twenty minutes, or thirty if he does not become too excited...and that is a generous estimate." Queen Helen laughed as she and Chiron walked down the path that led from the gardens back to the palace. Narnia was such a wonderful and entertaining place to live, especially on a day like today when the Cat taught the Dog a manners lesson...or at least tried to.

A/N: Please Read and Review! Just a tiny little oneshot that a family member suggested based on the antics of two of the family pets after learning I was suffering writer's block for all my other stories. Anyway, hope y'all liked it. Leave a review and let me know what you thought about this one.
