Liddle tings (Specs one-shot)
I don't own Newsies in any way. Inspired by Little Things by Busted.
It's true about what they say. Summer stinks. Right now I'm watching Dutchy's sister Ire, reading Oliver Twist.
When she reads, she twirls one of her ringlets around her finger and gets this funny expression on her face. Her nose scrunches and her forehead wrinkles.
It's quite entertaining to watch her read. It upsets her that none of the boys treat her like a girl. They treat her like the other guys. It's funny how Ire is so smart, but she can't see that I love her.
"Uh…Specs?", her voice asked. She waved her hand in front of my face and I snapped out of my trance. She giggled at me. "Youse been watchin' me foa houhs. Why don' youse go outside wit da oddah guys?", she asked.
"Cause Ise don' wanna!", I snapped.
"Do youse want some cheese wit dat wine?", she teased.
"Youse know wese can' afford dat stuff", I said.
"No, but wese can go ta Tibby's", she said.
"Okay", I said. I got up and she took my hand. I blushed as we walked into Tibby's still holding hands.
"Heya Specs…Ise gonna go sit wit Skitts, Mush, Racetrack, and Blink", she said kissing me on the cheek.
"Okay", I said.
Some of the boys were getting drunk. Including David.
I went over to Ire and asked, "Wanna get outta heah?"
She nodded and I took her hand.
We walked back to the lodging house and got ready for bed.
Ire changed into a nightgown.
I was lying on my bed reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Ire layed down next to me, underneath the sheets and layed her head on my chest and put her arms around my waist.
We read in silence for hours.
By the time I finished the book, Ire was asleep.
I put my book on the bed stand and blew out the candle. I layed down and Ire readjusted and put her face in my neck.
"Specs", Ire breathed.
I loved Ire and Ire loved me. I loved all the little things that made her, her.
