WILL AND THE LOST

The leaves portrayed a bright array of colours in the garden of the London institute. If you happened to be outside that day, you would notice a man dressed in black kneeling in the bright leaves. If you looked closer, you would have noticed that he was frantically searching for something. All in all, London has seen stranger things in its churchyards.

Will was dead. He was so dead. Tessa was going to kill him. She would probably act all nice and friendly and then when he least expects it, she would kill him. Will was so dead. Will kept pushing the leaves around. Sweat was forming on his forehead but he did not care. He needed to keep searching. How does someone even lose their own child in their own backyard? Will didn't know but he accomplished it.

"Jamie come to daddy!"

Silence.

"Jamie please, I got candy."

Silence.

Will got up and dusted off his pants. His head swivelled around the churchyard in the hope to find his son somewhere but he couldn't spot him anywhere. His gaze rested on the graves in front of him. Where was Jessamine when he needed her the most? Her ghostly powers could surely help him find Jamie, couldn't they? His gaze then went to the trees. Will wondered whether two-year-olds could climb trees. Will knew that Jamie couldn't have left the churchyard because it was protected and no one could enter or leave. His only worry was that Jamie was injured or unconscious and that filled him with the worst kind of dread. I bet Jem wouldn't have lost his son on a walk through the backyard, Will thought to himself.

"Will what are you doing?"

Will spun around. There stood Jessamine in her ghostly white dress. Talk about the devil.

"Umm... nothing. Just visiting your grave Jessie. I miss you." How can I ask her to help me without giving the impression of a bad father? Hmmm..., Will mused

"Will what did you do?" Jessamine asked in a worried voice.

Am I that transparent?. He, he. I am not transparent literally but she is because she is a ghost and...

"Will!?"

"Don't yell woman I'll tell you. If you must now, Jamie has gone missing..."

"WHAT?"

"Don't yell and calm down. Here is here...somewhere...please help me." Will used the same face which he used to persuade Tessa to give him more toast. Naturally, Jessamine agreed to help him and they set of to find Jamie. While they were searching, Will told Jessamine about how Jamie disappeared under his watch.

Meanwhile, an old man was walking next to the abandoned graveyard. When he heard voices he got curious and dared to look more closely. He didn't see much, just a man talking to himself. Nevertheless, it scared him and he run away for the fear of being brutally murdered. Will heard only his scream and turned to Jessie:

"Jessie you must always be careful for there are all kinds of people ready to hurt a fine young lady like you."

"Will."

"Jessamine."

"I am already dead."

"Oh."

They continued their search.

In the end, they found Jamie asleep and safe under a bush of roses. The little boy probably got tired and fell asleep. Will thanked Jessamine and promised to be more careful the next time. With Jamie in his arms, he climbed up the front stairs of the institute. Only after he was sure that Jessamine was gone, he let out a sigh of relief and his eyes glazed over. He had been sick with worry and even though Jamie could not leave the Institute grounds, he still could have gotten hurt. And that pained Will more than anything. He took a deep breath and smiled. Jamie was safe now and that was all that mattered. Will hugged the little boy to his chest and said:

"Finally, I have found you."

"What do you mean you 'found' him? Where was Jamie? "

Will didn't notice Tessa climbing the front stairs until it was too late.

Shit. I am so dead.
