Author's Note 12-16-10: This story is a companion to "Is There Life?" but is also a prequel of sorts to "In Search for Home." This one is told from Bulma's perspective. It starts in the Dragon Ball portion of the trilogy but will quickly move into Dragon Ball Z, so I'm listing it under the Dragon Ball Z genre. Hope you enjoy!

To Be a Princess

Chapter 1: The Hunt is On

Bulma raced to the cafeteria. She was a typical high school girl who loved to gossip with her friends. Well, she was as typical as she could get when her father was Dr. Briefs, the inventor of the dino caps and owner of Capsule Corporation. Her family was the richest in the world and she had everything in the world she wanted, everything that is except a boyfriends. She couldn't understand why. She was cute with the perfect body and she was fun to be around, everything a guy could ask for. Bulma saw her friends and joined them at the table. "Hey, Bulma!" on of the girls said.

"Hey!" Bulma replied as she sat down.

"Hey, did you hear about the new rumor going around?" one of the others said. All the girls turned to her as she shared the latest news, "I heard about a legend today, the legend of the Dragon Balls. There's seven golden balls scattered all over the Earth. When all seven balls are brought together, a dragon appears and will grant any wish."

"Hey! That sounds like an awesome adventure, finding all seven Dragon Balls," Bulma said.

The others looked at her like she was crazy; Bulma was the only one of them who was daring and loved an adventure. One of them turned to Bulma and said, "Are you crazy? You don't even know if the legend is true and even if it is, the journey to gather all seven of the balls would surely be dangerous!"

"I know for a fact the legend is real. My father has seen the Dragon Balls before and invented a radar to track them. We even have on of the Dragon Balls at home. And with summer vacation starting tomorrow, I have three whole months to travel the world!" Bulma said excitedly and she knew exactly what she would wish for.

The other girls stared in awe. Bulma's tenacity was amazing and she was lucky enough that she could afford a three month trip around the world. "Bulma, you're so lucky, you live like a princess," one of the girls said.

"Not really," Bulma said as she calmed down, "My family may be rich, but I don't live like a princess. My mom still cooks everything and dad works all the time. I hardly see my parents; they're always busy. They're either too busy to spend time with me or are out of town on a business trip. I'm usually home by myself. I knew when I have kids, I'm not going to do that to them. But first, I'm going to finish school, and I'll have to find a husband. Who knows, maybe I will be a princess. Maybe I'll marry a prince." They all giggled; even when Bulma was being serious, she knew how to lighten the mood.

As school let out for the summer, Bulma raced through West City traffic to get home. She couldn't wait to get packed and head out on her newest adventure. She knew her parents wouldn't care; Bulma always went to exotic places when she was on vacation. However, Bulma didn't know just what kind of adventure this was going to be. Nor did she know it was going to change her life, forever.

Okay, I know this chapter is short, but I wanted to get this story up so I could get to the heart of the story. The next chapter or two will probably be short, too. I hope to update soon. Please read and review.
