He was going mad. Insane actually. Every night. Every day. He was like a zombie. Nightmares filled his mind and he slowly dipped into darkness. He couldn't take it anymore. Merlin let a bitter laugh. How ironic this world was? Where was the sweet, naïve young boy? Who... no... what took the boy's place? Ah, a monster. A murderer. Yes... a murderer. Murderer of thousands, murderer of millions and more to come.

Merlin held onto the dagger. He liked the way it felt when he gripped its handle. He staggered tiredly to Morgana's room. He knocked once. And than once more. No answer. He broke it open with loud bang. He grinned when he heard the shocked girly scream.

"Hi Morgana!" Merlin said excitedly, voice like toxin. "You didn't answer so... I just... came in. I hope that's fine, after all... you did try to kill me."

Morgana glared at Merlin, "What are you doing?"

Merlin chuckled while staring at the dagger, "Nothing... nothing."

"Merlin?" Morgana asked cautiously.

"I'm tired," he answered in a weary voice. Merlin stared at the floor and observed the cracks. He started chuckling and broke into an insane laugher. Morgana took a step back, the witch frightened. "I'm so tired, Morgana! I'm tired of YOU!" He screamed loudly and the scream penetrated the silence. "Oh, poor Morgana," he started in a mocking voice. "Oh, poor innocent Morgana, what could anyone do without you? HA! Can't they see the real you?"

"Merlin?" Another voice said.

Merlin hesitated but didn't turn around. He curled his shoulders and sneered, "Arthur, get out."

"What?" Arthur demanded.

"Oh, sorry, get out, sire." He gripped the dagger tighter. Merlin felt the tip of the sword on his back.

"Merlin. Put down the dagger," Arthur said, slightly wavering.

"I said... GET OUT!" Merlin screamed. His eyes turned golden and a vase nearby bursted. Morgana screamed, helplessly. "Please... please... get... out." He let out a broken sob and held on his head.

Arthur, wide-eyed, stepped back. After few seconds, he straightened and said, "You could get arrested for this."

"For what? Breaking and entering?" Merlin whispered. "Or... magic?"

"What are you talking about?"

Merlin giggled, "Oh, so ignorant. So... foolish. Can't see what is in front of you..." He started to laugh again. It chilled Arthur and Morgana. It sounded so pained and resentful. Merlin turned to Arthur with a crazed look on his face and, still laughing, shouted to Arthur, "Don't you get it? I'm a SORCEROR! I'm also a DRAGONLORD! HAHAHHHAHA! YES YESYES! And... and guess what... I killed so many." He whispered, "Yes, hundreds... millions. Not intentionally... or directly. But I still caused all those deaths." Merlin started to sob, "They... they stare at me! Their screams tearing into my HEART! Ahrgghhh." In a painfully hushed voice, he said, "I'm a murderer. A monster..."

"Merlin," Arthur said. "I can... help you. Stand up." He touched Merlin's shoulder but he flinched away.

"AND YOU! YOU! YES! ARTHUR PENDRAGON!" Merlin groaned, "Every day. Every night. All those work. All those insults! And, guess what? Not a single thank you." He glared at Arthur, "Don't you know? I saved you so... many... times! I sacrificed EVERYTHING for YOU! For you... Everything... Balinor. Freya. My... life." He slumped down on the floor. The dagger slipped from his fingers and Arthur snatched it away quickly.

"I'm sorry, Merlin. I'll say thank you from now on," Arthur said in a soothing voice, as if to a wild animal. "Let's get you to Gaius, okay?"

Merlin stared into the darkness. His eyes were void from emotion. He opened his mouth but close it. Arthur catched Merlin as Merlin's eyes rolled up and Merlin fainted. Arthur held him and went to Gaius leaving Morgana in shocked despair.

She stared at the dagger, still surprised. Morgana whispered, "What have I done?"
