Always eyes of blue, by RGoodfellow64

"Always".

There is a sense of permanence in that word.

"Always", and not just at the precinct.

It seems appropriate that it was late spring when her Mother's case was solved. When they caught the miserable excuse for a human being who ordered her murder. Yet when he was finally caught, flowers were blooming, the days were warm and as corny as it sounds, birds' songs filled the air.

It felt like the whole world was celebrating with her. The sky never seemed as blue, so bright and clear, like those blue eyes. The blue eyes that said, "Always."

"I don't know what to do now Castle." Looking deeply into those blue eyes, softly saying, "What do I do now Rick?"

And those blue eyes, that can convey so much in a simple glance, quietly, sincerely, unwaveringly said 'Whatever else may come, I'm here; "Always"', while arms gently held her.

"Always", always there were the blue eyes. Blue eyes she never truly looked into before, and the few times she did lately, frightened her with their permanence. "Always", slowly, quietly and tenderly, that word began to mean so much more to her; and those blue eyes seemed to say the promise of "Always" was real.

"What do I do now Rick?", and the blue eyes; falling deeply into those blue eyes, hearing the voice say, "Be still. Be calm. Allow the answer to come to you. Don't go looking for it, its right here waiting. Just be still."

Then the blue eyes smiling, twinkling in joy as he handed her a key. A key to a house on the beach, where the city was a million miles away. Where she can be still, and listen for an answer. 'Yours and yours alone for as long as you need', those blue eyes said. 'Yours, "Always."'

Looking at the blue sky, only seeing those blue eyes and hearing the word "Always", her answer came. She simply had to wait for it to come, and she smiled as it did.

Blue eyes, a sense of warmth; a place of safety; of "Always."

She picked up the phone and pressed the speed dial, waiting for a voice, seeing in her mind the blue eyes, she replied to the 'Hello' with "I need someone's hand to hold as I walk on the beach; I need someone's arms to keep me warm in the chill evening; I need someone that I can fall into."

Whispering she says, "Come. I need blue eyes to be with me, "Always".
