THE ADVENTURES AND EXPLOITS OF THE GREAT RUMPUSCAT

with an occasional mention of his foes or his riff-raff crew of ragamuffins

"I'm bored!" Etcetera proclaimed, pouncing on a certain silver tabby's tail. Munkustrap hissed at Etcetera and her crowd of friends who were also harassing him. The little white tabby withdrew from his tail and pouted, putting her point across: she was still bored.

"Go ask somebody to… tell you story." He announced, waving a paw lazily toward the tire where a group of cats were lounging, equally bored.

"But who tells good stories besides you?" Rumpelteazer inquired, batting at Mungojerrie's ears and giggling a loud, obnoxious giggle as he told her off. Munkustrap groaned slightly, knowing right well that he did happen to be the best story teller around at the moment and was now burdened with a mob of bored kittens. Then, he remembered something that lifted the damper on his spirit.

"Go ask Coricopat and Tantomile to tell you about the Great Rumpuscat." He said, pointing to the twins- who where very intertwined at the moment and appeared to be quiet busy, lost in their own little world. Their world was an odd one, so the young Jellicles knew, and was most likely not something you want to go inquiring about on a hot afternoon.

"The great what?" Victoria finally asked, her nose twitching.

"The Great Rumpuscat." Munkustrap insisted. "They're these great stories about this cat that saved innocent kittens from the wrath of mean junkyard dogs or found out who exactly pulled the crime that the police couldn't figure out." He explained, glaring at Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer who were simpering at the rather uncalled for reference. After a second, though, the kittens snapped into a moment of unusual contemplation, starring at the twins. Did they really want their afternoon to waste away whilst they sat in the searing heat listening to a nut-case storyteller tell a story of an insane cat who could outsmart Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer? Perhaps, they were just bored enough to give it a try. Perhaps…

The kittens crawled toward the twins, not wanting to interrupt whatever it was that they were doing. As they left, Munkustrap turned to finally get away from it all but was in for a sudden surprise. As he turned, he found himself face-to-face with an extremely pretty queen who had snuck up on him. He jumped, causing her to scream. She began to completely flip out- pulling the twins out of their trance just long enough for the kittens to make their request. Bombalurina rounded a corner quickly to calm the little golden queen down. Realizing that she wasn't going to stop screaming on her own accord, Munkustrap wrapped his arms around her waist and neck, trying to calm her. Bombalurina lashed out as if in objection, but stopped when she realized her friend had calmed down. She starred at Munkustrap for a second, rather dumbfounded, before the jumpy cat sprang to her feet to examine her surroundings in a much… happier way.

"Ooo, Lurina, are those the storytellers you told me about? Are they telling a story right now? I want to hear!" And with that, she bounded off with a kitten like innocence to listen to Tantomile's story.

"Sorry…" Bombalurina groaned, following her friend as fast she could. Munkustrap looked after her, back to where he was going, and then back at the small crowd at Tantomile's feet.

He decided that one more recount of the exploits of The Great Rumpuscat wouldn't do him any harm.

(Thus ends chapter one; tomorrow you will get actual Rumpus story ; Set pre-ball, Demeter is obviously new, and Jemima, Electra, and Pouncival aren't around yet.)
