For you angsty peeps, enjoy!
Sadness. There was all it was. Grace couldn't bare the fact that her husband was gone.
Two weeks have passed after the explosion. He was trying to save a group of people from flight 828, but it was too late for them to get out of where they were when an oxygen tank exploded, trapping them inside.
The police found all their bodies burnt, there was nothing left.
Ben was gone, again.
She couldn't function. She had had a second chance with her husband, the love of her life, and it was taken from her, again. She felt like she couldn't take it anymore, the pain was killing her.
But she needed to be strong for her kids, she needed to be there for them.
Olive and Cal were devastated, as were the rest of the family. No one saw it coming; Michaela thought Ben was going to get out in time, but he didn't make it.
Grace was in her bedroom, wearing one of Ben's shirts, looking at pictures of their wedding day. They were so happy, tears of joy everywhere. She smiled a little at the one she was looking at. He had his arms wrapped around her, giving her the biggest smile. And she was looking at him like there was nothing else that mattered, and there truly wasn't.
She started crying, throwing the picture to the floor. Why couldn't he stay out of what happened to the plane? She asked herself. Why couldn't he let it go? Why did he lie to her? Why didn't he tell her what was going on?
She hated him and missed him at the same time. She wanted her husband back.
But he was gone, Ben was gone.
Her heart ached, her chest compressing with every breath she took; so, she let it go and started screaming her guts out. She threw herself on the bed and started punching the mattress, screaming at it like it was going to help take that pain away. But it wasn't working. She stood up and started throwing all the pictures to the floor; she was so mad at him.
She was mad because he could have been here with her if he didn't obsess with the mystery of the plane, she was blaming him for putting himself at risk and ending his life.
Grace took one of their wedding pictures and held it. The love her husband showed in that photo made her remember all the good times they have had over the years. And now she missed him more.
The mix of emotions was too much, she couldn't handle it anymore. She needed to let it go, she needed to-
(…)
"Ben!" Grace screamed as she woke up. Ben woke up startled because of her scream, "Grace I'm here, it's okay, it was just a bad dream" he told her while hugging her.
"I dreamt that you died in some sort of explosion" she started telling him while sobbing. "You were trying to save some passengers from the plane, but you didn't make it in time."
"Shhh" he tried to calm her. "It's okay, I'm here, and I'm alive"
Grace kept crying on his shoulder and told him "I don't know what I'd do if I lost you again Ben"
"Baby you won't lose me again, it was just a dream" he tried to reassure her.
After a little while she calmed down. Her breathing was steady now on his shoulder, she was finally accepting it was all a dream, that he was here with her. She lifter her head up so she could look at him. He was here, with her. He wasn't dead, he was alive.
She placed a hand on his face and caressed his cheek. Grace then hugged him again so she could feel his warmth. She needed to feel his warmth.
"God I love you so much woman" he told her
She chuckled a little, he always did that, trying to lighten up the mood and she was thankful for it. "I love you too" she told him, and then kissed his shoulder before sitting back down next to him.
"Let's go back to bed now, tomorrow will be a busy day" Ben told her.
"Okay but hold me please" he chuckled but did as told. He was pleased when she grabbed his hand and put it on her chest and kissed it.
He was real, she thought one last time; he was there with her, he wasn't dead.
