Happy birthday, Amber! I hope you love this, darling.
Lucy twirls in her periwinkle blue dress, the satin crinkling as she spins and spins by Lorcan's arm under the moonlight. Her eyes shine with a banter they have never had, and she laughs like there's no tomorrow.
Lorcan grins, because Lucy looks beautiful, shining so bright like a star, and Lorcan remembers exactly why he fell in love with the woman in front of him.
"I love you, you know that?" Lucy giggles, dizzily dropping onto the dewy grass. Lorcan sits next to her, his dress robes flowing out around her. Lucy plays with the hem of it, glancing up at Lorcan.
"You let me be the girl I can't," Lucy explained, her fingers traveling up and softly brushing Lorcan's knee. He was the only one who saw her like this, like a free spirit with no care for the world or what her overbearing parents though. "My father doesn't like you, you know. Thinks you're loony because of your mother, or something like that."
"I don't care though. You're the smartest wizard I've ever met," Lucy declares, leaning her head into his lap. Lorcan smiles gently, stroking her brunette curls as they stare up and count the stars together.
Lorcan's heart thumps painfully loudly as he gazes down at the beauty in his arms. She is so assertive, yet sweet. Lucy might not know it, but she has him wrapped right around her dainty little finger.
Lorcan says, "You're the best girl I've ever met."
Lucy glances up at him incredulously. "Me? As if." She doesn't want him to see insecure she really was.
"You're beautiful, Luce." And Lorcan really means it.
"Definitely not, Lorcan. I am a-"
Loran never waited to hear what she was-or, rather, what she thought she was. His lips meet her's quickly and the words she was about to say melt off the tip of her tongue like wisps of forgotten dreams.
Their romance is a forbidden one; a love hidden in the freezing depths of a lonely winter.
But spring is coming, and they know it. They would twirl together into the sunlight, where their love would shine brighter than the summer fire.
"The stars, too, they tell of spring returning."- Spring Awakening.
