Fang looked quietly over at Max as she yelled at the others to get ready for the day. He grinned his small, hardly noticeable grin as Max yelled at Gazzy to get dressed.

"Iggy, what is that in your pocket?" Max asked suspiciously. "Is that a bomb?"

"No." Iggy said quickly, running up the stairs.

Max sighed. "Nudge, have you had breakfast?" She asked Nudge who was playing with her hair.

"Yeah." Nudge said happily. "I had cereal. I had Lucky Charms, but maybe I should have had Apple Jacks, or maybe Frosted Flakes. Ooh! Maybe an apple or an orange! Maybe-"

"Nudge, shut up!" Max shouted annoyed, rubbing her temples.

Fang laughed on the inside admiring the fact that Max hadn't strangled her yet.

"Fang, why aren't you ready?" She asked suddenly.

He was taken aback for a moment. "Because, I'm not going." He said simply after shrugging.

"What do you mean you're not going?" Max asked, getting upset. "We've been planning this day off for a long time!"

"I mean, I'm not going." Fang said, getting up to go upstairs.

"You know what? Fine. Maybe I don't want you to come." Max snapped angrily.

"Well, maybe I never wanted to go in the first place." Fang said, his cool, calm, and collected demeanor becoming a little mean.

"Then stay home for all I care!" Max yelled, turning and stomping through the front door. She took off into the air, her eyes brimming with tears of frustration and anger.

Fang sighed. This is why he could never tell her that he loved her. There were just too many barriers
