Knockturn alley was unusually quiet. I was tucked away in one of the back alleys. I wasn't safe there, but then again, where was I safe? I poked my head out round the corner of the alley. It joined onto Diagon alley where most witches and wizards seemed to be. I caught sight of a group of people whispering and pointing; I looked past them and saw why. Harry Potter and his two friends were walking towards Flourish and Blotts. I hated him with a passion, he didn't know who I was, I mean nobody does, well almost nobody. I clenched my teeth as he walked past. It annoyed me that people thought just because he was 'The boy that lived' he was something special. And what annoyed me most, the fact people took pity on him because he's an orphan. I'm an orphan and nobody cares about me. He's luckier than he thinks. Walking around like he owns the place. I'm not going to wait for Voldemort to kill Harry Potter, no; I've waited far too long for that to happen. I'm going to kill Harry Potter.

The grass was slightly damp and it was seeping through my white shirt. Not that it mattered anyway as my shirt had millions of tiny holes in anyway, but I didn't care about shirts, in fact the only thing I cared about, and have ever cared was the stars above my head. Stars were the only things I have ever related to. Nobody knows what they are, a gateway to heaven? Tiny balls of light? A mystery...but the main thing in common me and stars have is that no one really looks at them; people know they're there, but who actually takes time to look at them properly? Not that many people.

My chain of thought was broken. I heard a rustling from behind me. I sat up immediately, and who should be standing there but famous Harry Potter.

I turned around and gave a slight groan.

"Hey" Harry said from behind me. He sounded happy, unfortunately.

I didn't reply.

To my annoyance he sat beside me.

"Your names Alex right?" he asked me.

I simply nodded.

"Third year aren't you?" he asked.

"Fourth actually" I corrected, bringing my knees up to my chest.

"Ah..." he said quietly. "What are you doing out here so late?"

"I like being out at night" I said not really wanting to expand my answer.

"At one in the morning?" he said chuckling slightly.

Again I said nothing.

A few minutes of precious silence went back when he began to ask more questions.

"You joined late in the year didn't you?" he asked.

"Yes" I said staring out at the black lake in front of me. I could hear the faint sound of the giant squid slurping and gurgling in the distance. The moon was shining reflecting off the glittering water, and there were no clouds in the sky, a perfect summer night.

I noticed out the corner of my eye he was staring at me.

"What is it you want?" I asked him as he readjusted his glasses.

"Nothing in particular... I just haven't seen anyone here at this time before, that's all" he trailed off.

Again he was looking at me his head tilted slightly; I noticed he was looking at my tie. I automatically put my hand on my tie and loosened it a bit.

He seemed to realise that I had noticed him looking.

"You're a Slytherin...I didn't realise" he said giving me an awkward glance.

"Yeah well..." I shrugged.

He looked to the floor, and starting picking some grass.

"I'm going to sleep now" I said, for some reason I felt the need to explain where I was going.

He nodded not bothering to look at me.

I walked away picking up a pace as I got nearer the castle.

It didn't hit me till I was back in my bed. Did I just have a civilised conversation with my worst enemy? ...
