Dedication Takes A Lifetime
Ever since the moment Kurt first saw Finn Hudson, he'd wanted him. Everything about him was so entirely unpredictable. You thought you knew him, thought you had him pegged. He was like all the rest of them.
Only then, he wasn't. Because he joined Glee Club. That made him different.
But every time the football team came to toss Kurt into a dumpster, he'd look hopefully at Finn, like maybe he, Kurt, could be a part of Finn's unpredictability today. Like maybe Finn would change his mind, because Finn couldn't be placed; Finn just was.
But every time, though Finn would hold Kurt's sweater, or his shoes or his bag or his jacket, he never said anything like "Don't." He never said anything like "Stop."
Until yesterday.
They were going to toss him into the dumpster like they always did. Every. Single. Day. Kurt had sighed, and removed his jacket, giving Finn a pleading look. Finn avoided his eyes, but took the jacket while the other boys moved in on Kurt. And then, miraculously—"Wait."
Puck looked at his friend. "What?"
"Just… don't. Okay?"
"What," another boy snorted. "First that wheel-dork, and now the faggotron? Are you actually acting like these freaks are your friends?"
"Leave him alone, okay?" Finn said, in that voice that just made Kurt melt. And Kurt felt Finn's hand on his back, leading him away from the jeering boys, felt his jacket being laid across his shoulders.
"Thanks," he said softly.
Finn smiled wryly. "That's like if I tried to push you off a cliff, and then grabbed your arm at the last second. You shouldn't thank me—I got you into this mess in the first place."
"That's not true!" Kurt defended. He looked down, and shrugged. "You didn't let them hurt me."
Finn gave a jerk of his head. "Yeah. Come on. Let's go to class before anything else happens."
Needless to say that Kurt went to bed that night feeling strangely hopeful—if that fantasy of Finn saving him had come true, who knew what other desires would?
The next morning, a Saturday, Kurt was awoken by a banging on his door. He sat up, and Finn entered, looking highly distressed.
"Wha—Finn? How do you even know where I live?"
"It doesn't matter, it's not important. Kurt, look, I…" But instead of explaining, Finn walked to Kurt's bed and kissed him chastely on the lips.
"Finn…" Kurt mumbled.
"Shh," Finn advised. "I love you. Just…" and they kissed again.
And this time, tongues tangled and hands roved, and clothes disappeared until finally, Finn was naked on Kurt's bed and he was beautiful. Kurt's cheeks were bright red—he could feel it—and his hands were shaky as they guided Finn's lips back to his.
Finn pulled away, a glint in his eyes that Kurt had never seen before—though he somehow knew what it meant. "I want you," Finn whispered. "Please."
Kurt nodded.
And when it was through, he cuddled close to Finn, letting his head rest in the crook of Finn's neck. "I love you," he whispered.
Finn laughed. "I love you too." Kurt closed his eyes softly. And when he opened them again, it was dark, and rain was spattering against his windows. His pillow was clutched in his arms.
Lying on his back, Kurt looked at the ceiling and tried not to cry.
It didn't work.
Dedication takes a lifetime, but dreams only last for a night.
A/N: Poor emo-ing Kurt. Love him. Song lyrics belong to All Time Low. In case it's not clear, everything was a dream between the time Kurt went to sleep and when he woke up in the dark… I was trying to avoid the whole, "Shit, it was a dream" thing. But maybe I just made it bad for less perceptive people. IDK. Review? Frankly, I think this is a piece of crap, but I wanted to post it. I'll study their characterization, and then I'll write another something like this, and it'll be much better, I promise. ;)
