Spoilers: Major Spoilers for the Season 2 premiere, "Step 9."
Disclaimer: Don't sue, please. I'm harmless. Honest.
A/N: I found myself fascinated by the way that Mycroft decided to "resolve" his differences with Sherlock. He was certainly speaking Sherlock's language, even if blowing up Sherlock's things was a bit extreme. I couldn't resist trying to figure out what he was thinking.
As always, I thank my Lord Jesus Christ for his incredible mercy and grace, and his many blessings.
I hope you enjoy this, and please let me know what you think!
Rapprochement
Mycroft had lied about more than his weight loss and the original fate of Sherlock's belongings.
He had lied about his conversation with Joan as well.
Oh, she had emphasized the importance of capturing Sherlock's ever-fickle attention, and ensuring that he actually heard what was said. But, among other things, she had also suggested that they "clear the air."
Mycroft had, perhaps, taken her a bit literally, but it had been rather therapeutic.
In any case, as far as he was able to discern, Joan had been entirely correct in her assessment: his brother would much rather take his well-deserved lumps and have done with it. In a way, Sherlock needed to take those lumps before he could believe that the past was the past, forgiven, if not yet forgotten.
That was a sentiment Mycroft could appreciate. A clean slate certainly had its appeal.
Of course, if Mycroft ever found that he needed to "clear the air" once again, he was now in possession of a delightful series of books that would help him do just that.
