Now this one IS based on an Evanescence song, as some of you Ev fans already know. I literally thought that this song was made for soldiers. No lie, because if you listen very closely to the lyrics, it totally sounds like she's talking about the soldiers going to war and that she doesn't like it.
Anyway, I'm going to be skipping around the timeline here. When you read the story, I must warn you that I will make the war the shortest war possible.
Set after "Outfoxed" 5x08.
WARNING: The shortest war on earth (it's my made up war), Morgan/Reid paring, minor mention of back-stabbing cheating; advert your eyes if you don't like this good stuff.

Spencer crossed his arms over his chest in disapproval. "I really think you should stay here. I mean, don't you think that this war is unnecessary?"Derek was going off to war and Spencer didn't like it one bit. "Please Derek."
"I'm sorry, Spence, but I'm doing this for our country." He headed out for the door to the taxi waiting out front.
Spencer felt tears rolling down his cheek as he leaned on the door way. "You still haven't…"
"And yes," He stepped up to Spencer and wiped away his tears, kissing him on his pink, full lips. "I do think it's unnecessary." He ran to the impatient taxi before Spencer could answer. "I love you!" He called out.
"I love you too! Come home as soon as this mess is over, okay?"
Derek nodded and with that, he dropped into the car and drove off.
Spencer closed the door and slide down it, crying out. You better…
A few months felt like eternity. They had been calling each back-to-back to check up on each other, but that still didn't seem like enough.
"Derek, I really miss you." Spencer pouted. All Spencer could think was, Out on your own, cold and alone again. Can this be what you really wanted, baby? He inwardly rolled his eyes to himself. It was his fault for letting him go. Blame it on me, set your guilt free. Nothing can hold you back now. He all of a sudden came back to the world when Derek began to talk.
"I know you do baby, but this thing is wrapping up pretty quick. I'll be hoe before you know it… and I know you're worrying that I might be…too serious when I come back. I won't change, kind of like how you won't change."
"I can't change who I am…not this time. I won't lie to keep you near me and in this short life, there's no time to waste on giving up; I hope my love is enough." He was shocked that Derek was able to actually call him and be happy at a time like this… It's probably nothing… Oh but it was something alright.
"Spencer, baby, your love is more than enough. It's everything a man could ever want. I'll be home soon. Like…3 weeks from now."
"Okay. Bye, I love you."
"Bye babe, I love you too."
Those three weeks couldn't have gone any faster as the previous taxi car pulled up. Derek was finally home.
When Derek stepped out, he didn't look any different; just his same-old happy looking face, ready to kiss Spencer senseless.
Spencer awkwardly ran up to him and wrapped his arms around him and pushed his lips forward on Derek's.
Derek twirled him around and looked up at the taxi driver. They smirked at each other. He would never know…
Author's Note: Oh SNAP! That was so brutal of Derek, cheating on his home-boy like that! By the way, Spencer's thoughts while talking to Derek were repeated from Lacrymosa by Evanescence, and when he says he can't change who he is.
Should I make a sequel?
