The Yule Ball was a time for girls to dance with the man of their dreams. That is unless you're Amanda Skye. If you're Amanda Sky then you would be spending your mornings sitting in the Great Hall, looking at your crush and waiting, no, hoping for him to ask you to the date. Every day, Amanda would watch the red headed boy longingly. She was in her sixth year and had fancied him since her fourth. His name was George Weasley. Him and his brother Fred were her best friends. However, Fred would always make little jokes about how Amanda and George should date. He would always wave him off and laugh a bit, leaving a knot in the bottom of Amanda's stomach.

A small piece of paper hit Amanda on the forehead. She looked up and across at the boy in front of her who was shyly smiling at her. George gestured to the paper, which she unfolded.

You wanna go to the ball with me?

She looked up at him, her eyes wide. Was he being serious? Amanda quickly wrote down her question and slid the paper over. She watched his beautiful eyes going over her handwriting, his smile growing as he replied and flicked it back at her, clearly aiming for her chest. He, however, hit her neck. She shot him a glare before reading.

Of course. What do you say?

Before standing up and walking out of the Great Hall to wait for her only female friends, Hermione and Ginny, she nodded.

~~~TIME FOR THE BALL~~~
Amanda's parents had sent her a beautiful black cocktail dress for the ball which hugged her body perfectly. Her long, usually curly, brown hair was now straightened and reached her waist. She didn't have on as much make up as she assumed every other girl would, but she did have high heels on. About thirty minutes before the ball was set to start she heard a knock on the door.
When she opened it, she watched George'd eyes go wide as he took in her appearance. "Wow."
She blushed, "D-do I look okay?" Amanda asked timidly.
George put his hands on her waist and pulled her close, "You look brilliant." he said before giving her a kiss on her forehead. "Merlin am I going to show you off."
