How can I move on?
Appearing with a hard stare at the Arno River, Selina Kyle felt her dangerously red lips alerted into a dedicate smile.
She felt the sunlight beam over her alabaster and freckled skin. Her piercing brown eyes searched the shadows that crept over the docks, and she tensed as the warmth shone over her shapely body.
Selina kept her dark, calculating gaze focused on glistening, amber ripples of sunlight in the water.
At one time, in another lifetime Selina had given no man the opened invitation to enter her universe. Sure, they hoped to taste her traitorous lips, silky auburn hair and to employ her torso for their intentions of filling their greedy needs that would fade away once the dream was complete.
She was left abandoned, without the protection of a family, because deep down they never experienced the genuine womanhood that she was hiding behind the masquerade of her own gray shaded heart
They were the dogs that treated her like an unwelcome stray, kicking her to curb and stealing another piece of her that could never be recovered.
You're nothing but a lost kitten. No one will ever love you.
Then one night, a doorway was left clear and she went into the dwelling, not knowing that was behind it. Until she got a glance of something worth more to her concealed heart than diamonds and gems.
Something that was uncommon for a thief to get in those desperate times of making it without any hope of the dawn.
That's a beautiful necklace... Reminds me of the one my mother wore.
When she gazed into those daunting and soulful hazel eyes that revealed pain with the mix of smoldering gold and soft green, she recognized that she had found her place.
"Selina," The deep, soothing baritone of Bruce Wayne wafted behind her. "You're acting more quieter than usual. You alright?'
Bending her head briefly, Selina felt the black eyes softened with stinging tears as guilt became etched over her pale skin.
She took in his casual appearance, a mute purple shirt unbutton with a white T-shirt underneath and a pair of frayed jeans fitted snug around his slim waist. His hazel orbs tender but still weary under tousled bangs hanging at the wrinkle of his hooded eyes. Chestnut wavy layered locks capture the sunshine radiating over his young, chiseled features.
"I'm fine." she charged back with a defensive note, falling shards of ice jab into her bruised psyche.
Selina offered him a faint smile before crossing her arms over her breast and moving her heels closer to the sharpness of the deck panels. She narrowed her teary eyes down at the nonstop ripples in the water, seeing the glistening reflections of the fleeting sun.
Bruce stared deeply into her gloomy brown eyes. "Don't lie to me," he stated with a touch of a growl edging at his throat.
She stiffened her jaw in a frown as she narrowed her to the cobalt blue summer dress that made her seem to be enchanted as a sapphire gem and as uncommon as a winter rose. The pall of guilt and remorse etched over her expression betrayed her concealed emotions that tugged hard against her heart strings. Her face changed into something more sinister, and more complex. Bruce was used to her countenance shifts by now, but he nevertheless tries to unmask her fully without the bonds of her past holding her down.
" You," she hissed, tensing her shoulders. ""You scarcely know a little about me, Wayne. Not everything." she pointed out bluntly. "Not the hell I've been through because of my damn mistakes. But what do you expect I'm not a good girl. Never will be. You're better off without me, handsome."
Her cold words lash Bruce across the face like a lash, and Bruce's jaw tensed as he regarded her with an unsettling gaze.
"You're acting, unbelievable," he grumbled with a savage frown. "We've been together for two months. You still don't trust me."
Tightening her body, Selina allowed her lips to curve into a sullen scowl. She shook her head. "This has nothing to do with trust, Bruce."
" Allow me ask you something... Why are keeping your past away from me, Selina Kyle?" He leaned in forward, his hands straining to grasp her upper arms, Selina deliberately pulled herself away. "I thought we both agreed on putting the past behind us but it looks like you're ready to give it up and let it have its day."
Selina shook her head grimly, and Bruce stared at a tear straying down her face, which she promptly wiped off with the back of her hand as she accepts a lump in her throat. "I can't, Bruce." She revealed quietly, near to a whispering level. "I can't open myself to you, to us, fully, if I don't shake the ashes of the past off my feet. You're free from everything. You got a chance to live with the bullet grinding in your soul. You need all of me. I can't give you what you want. I'll always be a stray. It's who I am in this life."
Putting her hand softly on his jagged cheek, Selina smiled deeply at him and he glared at her with a weary look mixed with unwashed tears. "You're a good man, Bruce. One of the best. You've deserved freedom. So I am going to give it back to you. Clean Slate me out of your heart." She tipped her head in close to him and presses a soft kiss on his feverish cheek.
"Don't do this, Selina?" he urged. His soul is aching.
Selina patted his face lightly, "I've never been one to say goodbye." She swept her lips over his lip. "I wish things were different behind us," Her eyes clamped shut for a bit, every bit her lips tremble over his upper mouth. "We can't live a normal life. We have to be who we are... You're the prince and I'm the thief. No computer program can change that, Bruce."
She paced aside from him, her arms enclosed over her breast. Protecting her heart. " Have a good life, Mr. Wayne."
Bruce lowered his head downwards, he suddenly felt torn within his body as his hand slid into his jean's pocket and he drew out the string of pearls, "Selina... Wait.." He raised his head, and then he realized that she had vanished.
His hand clenched the necklace into a close fist.
He squeezed his eyes close, allowing tears to roll down the outline of his cheek not knowing the reason why she was running away.
"I love you, as well, Selina Kyle."
