Journey: Amethyst
The legend holds true. These gems are the only things left of our civilization. The only positive born out of our industrialization. For centuries we had our followers travel through the desert. It's a grueling journey but all worthwhile.
It's during this journey they realize the truth about our civilization. Why it has broken down. And why we are the cause of it.
This motivates them. With everyone journey they go through, they always feel that they have overlooked something and they beg to go back and begin again, promising that they will also bring a lost follower with them.
They had every right to think that way.
While we have grand glyphs that tell the stories of our successes and our trifles, the flower of hope embedded deep in the sand, and our ancestor that swims, greeting us and reminding us of who we were and how we got here.
We have hidden something else in the sands.
It's fairly easy to miss; one doesn't normally walk around with their heads down. But it has been millennium and we think that our followers have the right to know now.
We send our followers back with a new mission.
When you go back on this journey, do not return solo. Return with a fellow follower, as well as a lost follower. Even after all this time, there are still some who have not made it.
And as one more objective, bring back six of these illustrious gems. Two on each person.
Keep an eye out for anything in the sand that reflects an abnormal purple light. Look into it and feel the truth looking back at you. Look into it and see a void of serenity and death.
Don't be distracted solely by its beauty.
We have hidden hundreds, possibly thousands of them throughout the deserts. All of them have gone unnoticed for all these years.
It's time for them to be brought home.
These gems are the key to true paradise.
When all of them are retrieved all of you will know…
Why a great and powerful nation such as us had risen and fallen all the same.
Why you all feel that eternal paradise is still so far away.
The truth behind the great mountain and why you all clamor to reach it.
You will understand why white isn't always the purest color.
For those who do wear it already know…
Just a fun little drabble that came to me while listening to a classical song named Amethyst. The song is from the game Auditorium. I highly recommend you look it up =D
I like writing Journey based stories =)
