Wives and Daughters Drabble
Pairing: one-sided Cynthia/Molly
Rating: G
Cynthia's loves flittered as much as she flirted, imagined herself into passions that faded almost immediately. She looked for it, the fiery passionate love that made kisses powerful and sinful. She's had it so briefly with Mr. Preston. She'd also felt something very sensible for Roger Hamley though she had no concept of her own feelings for him. He loved her, he was a good man, and she rather tolerated him as a person. It was too late that she realized whom it was that she truly loved.
It was stupid of her not to see it. She told Molly often enough: she loved Molly most of anyone, man or woman. It was a gentle love, a soft one, a sweet emotion that was honorable of Molly's gentle, soft sweetness-no matter how selfish Cynthia's actions turned out to truly be. And she would never have it.
