Thump thump...she pressed her ear a bit closer to listen to his heart beat...thump thump. It was calm and smooth, utterly soothing. She slid her hands up his sides as they laid on the bed, snuggled together as the thick and heavy snow fell outside. His hands came up to her hips and up under her shirt to rub her back, smiling as she shifted her ear to hear his heart beat better. He lifted his head up enough to kiss the top of her head and rested it back against the pillow.

"Heard enough?" he asked her.

"Shh," she hushed him. "Your talking is interrupting your heart beat. Makes it beat faster."

"Sorry." he apologized.

"Shh." she hushed him sharply again.

He smiled, rubbing her hips and lower back, starring up at the ceiling. He slowed his breathing as low as he could get it, closing his eyes to concentrate on making his heart beat clearer for her as he possible could without killing himself.

Then she'd really be mad.

Her eyes drifted open and closed as she let his heart beat take her over. Drowning out her own heart beat, vibrating through her blood and body, rocking her like a comfy hammock in a gentle breeze.

"This is my escape." she hummed. "My final manic break wrapped in the arms of love and care." He smiled listening to her, then frowned hearing his phone. She lifted her head and their eyes met, he cupped her face in his hand and rubbed her cheek with his thumb.

"I'm not answering it," he told her. "You can keep listening undisturbed."

Smiling, she pressed her ear back to his chest and giggled as his phone went to voice mail and silent. "And in this," she whispered. "I do hear God."
