Rhiannon: This is the fault of Bando-Eido... who infected me with her love of Axel/Roxas... and is the first of many little shorts about that... This one is an... AU based on Axel's words 'we'll meet again... in the next life'
Falling
He was falling into nothing. Sky passing by in streaks like shooting stars, yet the real stars above his head were stationary. The wind ripped his at his clothes and his hair and his heart pounded so loudly in his chest. Thump, thump, thump. He could barely breathe, scarcely think.
His heart stopped.
Roxas Miryoko jerked awake with wide-eyes, a hand clutching his chest, feeling the erratic beat for moment after moment until he was completely sure that it was his heart he was feeling. He dug his fingers into the sweaty sheets and pulled a deep breath down into his constricting lungs. They all but seized in his chest and he reached for his inhaler and shoved into his mouth and pressed it down. The medicine was liked acid in his mouth, foul tasting and melting across his taste buds leaving behind its nastily peculiar taste.
"Roxas?" A soft voice whispered and he looked over at younger brother.
"I'm fine Sora." He told the cinnamon haired boy who walked over and climbed up on his bed.
"You had the dream again." He gave him a thin smile. "I'm not stupid."
"Prior to popular belief twins don't have some freaky kind of empathy." Roxas muttered. "I'm going back to sleep."
"I just wanted to know what it is that you dream of." Sora whispered sadly but back off just the same.
Roxas shouldered his backpack and thrust his inhaler into his pocket and walked out the door and started the walk to the school that was only a few blocks away. Sora came running up behind him, late in leaving as usual. He smiled at him and shoved his hands into his pockets as he walked beside him.
"I think Riku just got back from his Aunt's funeral. Maybe he'll be at school today." He stated brightly.
"Maybe." Roxas sighed, he didn't care either way, it wasn't that he disliked the silver haired teen. He just wasn't interested.
Sora nodded, he was use to Roxas' total disinterest in the world around him. He grinned at his older brother of five minutes and waved as he bounced off to his first period class.
Roxas had a new English teacher, he was not amused. He had rather liked Mrs. Day but now he had… Mr. Loire. He closed his eyes and slumped into his seat and then jumped when a rather rude red head with gravity defying hair slammed into the seat beside him.
"Hey! My name's Axel and it's my first day… Who're you?" His words were half-slurred as if he were drunk but Roxas had an inkling that he was perfectly sober.
"Uh… Roxas Miryoko." He shrugged a bony shoulder.
"Oh! My last name is Caterlyn." He reached out for Roxas' hand, the blond felt nervous and moved to hide his hand but Axel caught it and held it firmly in his.
He made me fell like I had a heart.
Come back with me.
No one will miss me.
I'll miss you.
He made… me feel like I had a heart.
"Hello… Roxas." His smile was blinding, teeth like little lights shining in his mouth.
Roxas leaned forward with a newfound interest and studied those very green eyes. "Hello Axel."
Roxas never dreamed of falling again.
Rhiannon: So um... thanks for reading... I hope this wasn't too weird...
