Beautiful
Lily was sitting by the lake, finishing her Charms essay. James Potter, her secret crush, came up behind her and said, "Lily- flower! Will you go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?"
"No." Lily replied calmly and cooly, although her heart felt it was about to burst about of her chest.
"Why not?" James whined.
"Because I know that you don't like me, you just like the chase." She replied, still not meeting his eyes.
"Lily, look at me," James said, his voice suddenly serious. Lily looked up, meeting his eyes. She gasped when she saw what his eyes held, "Lily, why would I spend six bloody years chasing after you when I could've had any other girl in the school? Why would you push my love for you aside like it doesn't exist?"
"It never made sense for you to love me. For argument's sake, let's just pretend that you really do love me. Why do you love me?" Lily said, tears in her eyes. She knew that James was just going to make fun of her.
"I really do love you. I love because you never gave in when the other girls were doing things that you knew that were wrong. I love you because you're smart, kind, and headstrong. I love you because you're Lily Evans." James said. He looked up at her. Her eyes were brimming with tears about to overflow and about to run down her face. "If you don't feel the same, I understand. I won't try to make you feel the same way about me. But I want you to know that I will never give up on you, not in a million years."
"I love you too, James." Lily said quietly. James caught it because the love of his life had just told him that she loved him too.
He leaned towards her and stopped when their foreheads were touching. "What happens when we go back to the castle? Will you still love me, or will you hate me again?"
"I could never hate you, James. I always loved you, I just couldn't admit it to myself. But now, no matter where we are, I will always love you." Lily replied, her voice sure and strong. She closed the space between their lips. It was a sweet kiss, full of love. James couldn't believe that Lily Evans was kissing him. For James, it was pure victory running through her mind. Victory that he had finally won Lily over. For Lily, it was pure bliss running through her mind. She had never imagined that heaven would feel as hot as it was for her right in that moment. When James finally pulled away, he whispered one word. Beautiful. And Lily knew who exactly who he was talking about.
