"Wasn't that awesome?" James asked as they left the Quidditch field.

Lily sighed, "James, Quidditch is your thing. It was cool, but watching people fly back and forth on brooms isn't my idea of a date."

"Oh." James sighed. "But it's like a must for a wizard to see at least one professional game in her life. Plus it's just a wizard thing to do."

Lily smiled "fine, you took me to do a wizard thing, now I get to take you to do a muggle thing." Lily grasped his hand, and they both ran off into the falling snow.

"There" Lily said after a few different stops. She and James were at a pond in the middle of the woods.

"A frozen pond, interesting." "Remember my house, the shoes with the blades on the bottom?"

James nodded, "Those look dangerous!"

"Well, they're called ice-skates. And what you do, is wear them, and skate around on the ice."

James looked at Lily, obviously confused, and pondering the idea of wearing dangerous shoes to slid around on a frozen pond in the middle of the woods.

"Just watch me, and do what I do." Lily tied her skates and carved graceful swirls in the ice behind her. She halted in front of James.

"I don't think I can do that." James chuckled.

Lily smiled "Ready?"

"No!"

Lily grabbed his hand anyway, dragged James onto the ice.

"WOW!" James yelled as he almost fell. Lily gripped his hand, and dragged him across the ice. Very clumsily, James followed Lily across the ice.

"Do you like it?"

James shrugged "Sort of, but I do like this!" Lily had just begun to skate around in a circle, and she was dragging James with her.

"Well I think you'll be a professional skater in about 500 hours."

"Super!" James smiled.

"Has it been 500 hours yet?"

Lily smiled "No!, but close, it's been 5 minuets!"

"Oh darn, I thought I was doing good."

"I was exaggerating!" Lily said in that sort of business professional tone.

"Well then!" James circled Lily "I think I'm pretty good!"

"Ha, for a beginner!" Lily took off down the edge of the pond, then dug her pick into the ice, and did a graceful jump. As she skated back towards James she spun in a little circle.

"Okay, I guess I'm not that good yet, I can barley skate in a strait line!"

James and Lily skated for about 2 hours before James stopped and rubbed his bright red ears.

"You forgot your earmuffs, didn't you?"

"Yes!" He smiled sheepishly, "My ears are numb!"

"Well, you should've worn your earmuffs!" Lily pulled an extra pair of hot pink earmuffs out of her bag. "Wear these, and we'll go get butterbeer."

James shrugged, wearing hot pink earmuffs would be a small sacrifice.

"Okay, you had me convinced at butterbeer, and we'll." James slipped the hot pink earmuffs over his red ears, and followed Lily off the ice.
