Chapter 1 of Pink Pearls and Yellow Roses
The Rio Grande waters danced around my feet. The wind softly blew a bluebonnet out of my hair and it flew to the other side of the river. My enemy caught it in her swift, nimble fingers, smelling it softly.
"(1)Así que ... Usted realmente va a hacer esto?" Her black eyes caught mine, I winced.
"Si-I mean… yes. I am gonna' do it." Mexico crushed the flower, grinding it to dust. Dark storm clouds seemed to form around her land. " Mexico. I ain't afraid of you."
"(2)Ahhh ... usted puede decir eso, pero sus ojos no pueden mentir. Dime querida hija, ¿por qué quieres que te deje pobre madre?" I turned away, my eyes filling with tears. I simply refused to answer that question. The wind picked up and slapped me in the face. "(3)MAYA! Yo soy tu madre y pedirle wen yo una pregunta, le da la respuesta! AMERICA HIZO ESTO! Llenó la cabeza con esas tonterías de rebelión y guerra, ¿no?" She growled.
"No! I WON'T. If you won't give me my freedom then your nothing to me but the enemy. America had nothing to do with my decision, he does not even know of it, yet." The border separating us seemed to inch closer, my fear all but vanished. "Give me my freedom, or…I will be forced to declare war on your country'." I could see the pure anger in her face and I knew that if I lost this war, I would regret this decision, but I needed this. Both of my parents had rebelled against their fathers and they turned out just fine…well kind of crazy, but still fine. I wanted a better life. My people needed this, I needed it. I was tired of living in fear of my mother. She was abusive, and I needed someone like my father to take better care of me.
"Miss' Texas? Are you alrigh'?" I turned my head to see one of the men my father had sent over to "watch" me, Mr. Houston, or my boss as some said. He saw of who I was fighting with and he grimaced slightly. "Ma'am, we must be off soon to," he carefully eyed the women I once called mother, "discuss matters with Mister Austin and his son." I nodded.
"I will be there soon, sir. One moment, please?"
"(2)Si, señor, Uno momento, por favor?" Mexico practically growled at the man. He growled back, which made me crack a small smile. He stormed away, giving a maximum of two minutes. My smile fadded.
"Mexico this is the last time I'll ask. Free me or War? The choice is yours." The devil sneered in disgust. She didn't have to say anything for me to know the answer. "FINE! The next time we meet, Ma'am it will not be a social visit. I suggest you have you gun handy at all times."
"(4)Sucio Niño. Usted se arrepentirá de esta Tejas! USTED SE MARCHA ATRÁS!"
"(5)CHAO!" With that I took my first steps to my new future.
A small chunk of the beginning of the Texas revolution. I hope you liked it. Thanks~
(1) So...You are really going to do this?
(2) Ahhh ... you can say that, but your eyes can not lie. Tell me dear child, why do you want to leave your poor mother? "
(3) MAYA! I AM YOUR MOTHER AND WHEN I ASK YOU A QUESTION YOU WILL ANSWER IT! AMERICA DID THIS! HE FILLED YOUR HEAD WITH THIS NONSENSE OF REBELLING AND WAR, DIDN'T HE?
(4) Filthy Child. You will regret this Texas. YOU WILL BE RUNNING BACK!
(5) GOODBYE!
