On Sunday
15 year old Kate Todd stormed into her bedroom and flopped on her bed, distraught.
Kate rarely cried, but this was one of those rare times: just before their 6 month dating mark, she had discovered that her boyfriend, Martin, had cheated on her with another girl in their grade at high school. Her friends had told her before that things wouldn't end well with him, but she'd laughed them off, telling them that he was the one for her. They had still been a bit wary, but had accepted it anyway. Now, she was in the wrong, crying over some stupid jerk that'd broken her heart.
"Kate?" Her older sister Rachel's voice came from outside of the door. "Can I come in?"
When her sister didn't answer, Rachel burst into the room. Upon seeing her baby sister sobbing on her bed, she said nothing, running right over to her and throwing her arms around her- she already knew what was wrong. Although she hardly ever saw Kate cry, Rachel was always the one to comfort her when she did, being her sister and only 18 months older than her.
"It's ok babe," she coaxed. She had seen guys break Kate's heart before, but never as bad as this. "One day, you'll wake up at 11:30 on a Sunday…"
Kate's eyes fluttered open as the bright Spring sunshine poured in through the crack of the curtains. She shifted slightly and reached for her phone on the dresser beside the bed.
11:29, Sunday 22nd May, 2005.
"…Next to the love of your life…"
She could feel his arms wrapped around her waist in exactly the same position that they'd fallen asleep in the night before.
When she rolled over to face him, she discovered that he was already awake, his sandy hair soft and shining in the sunlight, his sea-green eyes filled with content and happiness.
"Morning gorgeous," he whispered, kissing the tip of her nose playfully.
"…And you'll make pancakes and coffee…"
Kate placed two huge mugs of coffee on the kitchen table as her boyfriend flipped golden pancakes by the hob. Of course he was showing off- throwing them in the air, spinning around and then catching them again. She was kind of expecting one to fall and land on his head.
Once the pancakes were cooked, he turned around to face another counter where there was an array of toppings- a bottle of syrup, a can of squirty cream, a jar of nutella and bowls of strawberries and blueberries. He added practically everything to each dish and then laid the plates out on the table.
"…And everything will be ok."
Kate giggled loudly as he chased her around the kitchen; playfully swatting her with a dishcloth- she had thrown a cup of lukewarm washing up water in his face. After running around the apartment for about 10 minutes, they both stopped, exhausted, and fell into each other's arms, considerably out of breath.
"I love you, Caitlin Todd."
"I love you too, Anthony DiNozzo."
Yes, everything was definitely ok.
A/N: Hey! Here is a really fluffy oneshot that I wrote in between Aria chapters! It is basically Rachel telling Kate that everything will be ok in the future (italics) and Kate comparing her future to what she told her (normal text!). I just felt like writing some harmless fluff so yeah :).
