I was standing by the window, looking out through the darkness of The World That Never Was. My thoughts were lost, far beyond my hope of finding them. I don't even know what it was exactly that I was thinking about. But I do know that it was a knock on my door that brought me back to reality. I lowered my gaze from the darkness of the world and turned my body to face my blank room. There was another knock on the door and this time I actually responded.

"Who is it?" I called.

"It's me," a male voice replied.

I knew that voice. That was Roxas's voice. And the sound of it made me lose my senses all over again and just…melt.

"Axel?" he went on. "Can I come in?"

"Sure," I finally answered.

The door opened and he walked in. I took the sight of him in with a single breath. His dirty blonde spikes, his brilliant blue eyes; they left me lightheaded.

"Axel," he said my name again.

"Yeah?"

"Are you feeling okay? You keep spacing out."

"Do I? Sorry. I just have a lot on my mind." I fell onto my bed with a sigh.

"Well, do you wanna talk about it?" he wondered, sitting down next to me.

"There's nothing to really talk about," I lied.

"I doubt that." He paused. "Talk to me, Axel."

I got back to my feet. "I can't talk to you, Roxas."

"Why not?"

"Because I just…" I trailed off with a sigh as I began to pace the floor. "Nothing. Never mind. It doesn't even matter."

"Of course it matters."

"No. It doesn't."

"Just tell me what's on your mind."

"I can't."

"You can't or you don't want to?"

I froze, but only for a moment. Then I continued pacing. "I don't want to," I ended up admitting.

"Well, that's too bad. Tell my anyway."

"Why should I?"

"Because I'm your friend, Axel."

"I know, but—"

"But nothing. Tell me."

I went on with my pacing, fighting a sudden war between my mind and my nonexistent heart on whether or not I should tell Roxas the truth. I ran my hands through my red hair and gripped the spikes distressingly.

"Axel, calm down," Roxas spoke up.

My arms then dropped back down to my sides and I looked directly at him. His gaze was turned down, but he obviously felt my staring and that's when he looked up at me. And it was in that moment that I lost my mind all over again. And the next thing I knew, I had the blonde pinned to my bed and I was towering over him, kissing him.

But the best part was the fact that he was kissing me back.

His hands were tangled in my hair and he was pulling me closer to him and deeper into the kiss. I broke away from his lips only to start kissing down his neck.

"A-Axel," he gasped. "This is…insane."

Now I removed my mouth from his neck to look at him. "I know," I admitted.

"Then why are we doing this?"

I swallowed hard. "Because we can."

He nodded. "Is that a good enough reason?"

"Well, it's like you said; this is insane. And when you're insane, you don't really need a reason."

Roxas smiled at this. "You're right," he agreed.

I smiled back. "Well, now you know what was on my mind."

"I guess I do."

I kissed him again. "And I can say is that the result is better than I expected."

He laughed. "Shut up."

I also laughed and went back to kissing him.

And now I had lost my mind once again. And I had lost control of my senses once again. But it was okay now because those dirty blonde spikes and those brilliant blue eyes and that voice that made me melt; they were all mine. And my nonexistent heart—as well as Roxas's—was going completely insane.
