Heatstroke

Today was terrible. I woke up on my hard wooden floor having fallen out of my bed. Breakfast was a disaster and I fell asleep in class. That's how I got myself here, trying to finish my coursework in the sweltering heat. Feeling the sweat slide slowly down my back drip onto my plastic chair, the muggy air clustering and restricting my breathing, I began to feel dizzy.

Suddenly I knew, I had to get out. With all the speed I could muster I gathered my things together and stood. Quickly brushing my long dark hair off my face, I departed towards the nearest park, hoping that the fresh air could help.

Pausing by a bench, slightly hidden by bushes wilting in the heat, I could feel my throat constrict again and I began to see black spots. I could feel my heart speed up and my head throbbed. Before I could stop myself I was slipping out of consciousness and slumping onto the path.

Coming to, I faintly saw through my obstructed vision, a halo of golden curls, someone was watching over me like an angel. I couldn't understand what the angel was saying but it sounded so serene and peaceful, lulling me into a security I hadn't felt since I was the only one left of my family. Hazily I opened my eyes to see a beautiful young man, caring for me. His cerulean blue eyes reflecting the sky, his handsome face furrowed in worry.

"How are you feeling?" He asked when he saw I'd awoken. "Like I was just hit by a truck." I responded dryly. His mouth quirked up slightly. "Here," he passed me a bottle of water, "drink, you'll feel better." I drank slowly, savouring the coolness of the fresh water sliding down my throat. "What's your name?" The man finally asked, after watching me for a while. "Nico" I answered quietly. "It suits you," he decided "I'm Will."

He smiled happily at me and I thought that maybe, today wasn't so bad after all.
