Bold + Quotation Marks= Black Zetsu
Haruno Sakura never thought her closest friend would leave her behind. Obviously, they would spend less time together considering his marriage but Sakura expected to stay in their lives. She expected to be valued. One should expect the unexpected, especially a ninja. It hadn't occurred to Sakura this would apply to both her daily life and her career. She always assumed her friends would be the one constant in her life. People make mistakes. Assuming that she wouldn't be abandoned was her mistake.
In an effort to focus on anything but her emotions, Haruno Sakura buried herself in work. Most people would drink away their sorrows or make new friends but Sakura knew neither would work for her. Despite alcohol being good company, it was temporary. In the morning, she would find herself feeling once again. New friends were no good either. Its not that she was bad at socializing. It was merely the fact of the bonds being irreplaceable. No one she met filled the void. They were too dull. Work, however, fixed those issues. With constant distraction and a sense of familiarity, Sakura was able to shove her emotions to the back of her head. She was able to block out the nagging voice of her beloved inner. She was able to hide.
There were times when work didn't help her cope with being alone and forgotten. When the number of patients were low and the days were long, her mind took over. The fellow nurses rarely spoke to Sakura unless it was work related, which left ample time for her mind to ponder. Her heart often hurt from the jabs her thoughts made. She would often blink back tears at the searing hurt that coursed through her chest. What Haruno Sakura wanted was an escape from the emotions circling inside her head. She wanted freedom.
