I could not resist. Please forgive me. Consider this utter crack.

As for HtG, it will be postponed just a little longer, and then I will publish the third chapter and Epilogue together! :)

Disclaimer: Star Trek is a wonderful masterpiece loved and cherished by many all over the globe. Hence, it does not belong to me. *cheese*

:The Talk:

Spock shivered, but then caught himself.

"Father. Procreation is natural. Therefore, why should I caution against it as you suggest?"

Sarek looked at his son in a logically grave fashion.

"Because you may... experience undesired effects if you do not... allow these distasteful urges to be satisfied."

"Undesired effects? May I ask what they are?"

Sarek blinked.

"Death." He responded. Young Spock's face paled considerably.

"Death...?" His voice croaked, before he got control of himself. Sarek nodded.

"Indeed. When you reach the age in which you are able to experience it, you shall be caught in the throws of pon farr. It is a madness from which you shall not escape. You must mate or die."

Spock blinked, and stared up at his father. If his eyes were just a bit too wide, his father did not call him on it.

"Is that why... I have been bonded to T'Pring?" He questioned, turning to stare down at his lap. Next to him, his father gracefully inclined his head.

"Yes; the bond you share with her will cause her to respond to your need, so you will not go without a mate."

Spock nodded, almost letting out a sigh of relief. Until his father added, "Though she could reject you for another male. Then you would have to fight to the death for your right to mate her. Probability has it you could die either way."

Spock's heart skipped a beat, and for the first time in his life, he began to feel ill.

"So... what should I do?" He asked.

Sarek stood and turned to look back at his son.

"Kaadith. What is, is. You must accept it. However, chances are very low that T'Pring will reject you and choose another mate over you. I do not foresee any of this ever happening, however, my son. Trust my words; I am hardly ever wrong."

Sarek eyed his son carefully.

"Now that I have informed you of what to expect, do you have any more questions?"

Spock quickly shook his head, for the first time not wanting to know something in more detail.

Sarek nodded. "May you sleep in peace tonight, my son."

He left his son's room, the door silently sliding close behind him.

...

Out in the corridor, Amanda stood waiting.

"How did it go? Did you give him The Talk like I asked?" she asked softly. Sarek nodded.

"It went quite well. I made sure to explain it delicately, as you requested."

Amanda smiled sweetly at her husband, and trailed after him as he walked away, happy at his thoughtfulness.

...

In his room, Spock continued to sit on his bed, staring at the far wall of his room, unseeing.

He vaguely wondered if, as a Vulcan, it was possible to be scarred for life.
