A/N: Another drabble for the LiveJournal Community contest. This week's theme was 'love.' And, behold! I did better on the word count this time!
Disclaimer: Yu-Gi-Oh! is not mine.
Warnings: Not so much as a warning as it is a note- I have my own version of Kisara's past. So, references to that past in this aren't necessarily canon. And, also- typos!
This New Love
By: Nuit Songeur
Love. Kisara wasn't very familiar with this new Egyptian language as she was from across the Sea. Still, 'love' wasn't a new concept for her to understand. It had also been in her old language that was across the Sea as well. And it wasn't something new for her to experience. She knew love when she helped her mother around their home. The cooking, the cleaning, the washing, the feeding. She knew love whenever she'd taken care of her younger brother as she tucked him into bed at night and told him fantastical stories to help him drift off to sleep. Even more so, she felt love's agonizing pains as she watched with red eyes and excruciating screams as the foreigners came and torched her home, leaving her mother and brother inside to burn as she herself was dragged away and sold to slave traders.
Oh, Kisara had felt love before.
But yet, this new feeling that bubbled inside her chest seemed unfamiliar. It felt like love, as she stood protectively in front of Seto ready to risk her life for his sake. Indeed, she had felt this self-sacrificial feeling before; it wasn't new to her as she would have done the same thing with her mother and brother, given the chance.
But this felt different.
She stood in front of Seto, the boy that had saved her long ago when they were small, when she was held captive among the slave traders that had ferried her across the sea. Kisara stood her ground, trying to make herself as big as possible to hide her rescuer from view. She would be the target of their enemy, a cackling monstrous being that mocked her with sarcastic remarks. She was terrified, yes, but she would not let her resolve to protect Seto waver.
And the longer she stood, the more she knew this love was different.
This love caused her cheeks to flush with red warmth. This love made the back of her neck tingle at the thought that Seto might be staring at her. This love made her belly ache with a pleasant feeling and her knees to become shaky, useless things. This love was new, to her at least.
But despite these novel complexities, this new love did not falter as she risked her entire self for it. This new love did not stop her from locking her soul up in a stone tablet, all for Seto's sake. And it was because of this new love that she stayed by Seto's side to protect him further, even after her death. Even after his death. She was always with him, guarding him as the most fiercest, faithful, and beautiful of creatures.
And, there you are! I hope you enjoyed!
