Author Note: This is a poem on the possible thoughts of Liu Feng, the adopted son of Liu Bei, as he is about to be executed. Based more on the novel rather then history. Was on an old account of mine. I don't own anything, these men brave men fought many hundreds years ago for many differing reasons.
Liu Feng's Last Moments
Father
Why won't you hear my plea
Father
Will my death sate your anger
I was born as Kou Feng
But my parents died
Liu Mi took me in
You take me away from him
Father
I was so proud that day
Father
Were you ever proud of me
I served in Jing
At Bowang
At Xin Ye
At Chi Bi
Father
You left me at Jiang Ling
Father
I stopped Zhou Yu for you
I fought with Wei Yan
I captured Gao Pei
I drove back Zhang Ren
I seized Dingjun Mountain
Father
I did my best for you
Father
Was I only a pretend son
I was unable to stand
Against Cao Zhen
Or Xu Huang
But I took Shangyong
Father
I governed Shangyong for you
Father
I wish I had never seen the city
Guan Yu marched to Fan
Xu Huang drove him back
While he was gone
Lu Meng stole Jing away
Father
Liao Hua came for help
Father
I sent him away
My Uncle did not approve of me
He insulted me in your ears
He drove us apart
He always had a place in your heart
Father
I could not save Uncle
Father
It was better that I hold Shangyong
You promoted me
I thought just maybe
That it was to bring us closer
I was such a fool
Father
My friend deserted
Father
I fought him for you
Meng Da sent to me
A letter advising me
To change to Wei
I stayed loyal
Father
I was unable to bring him in
Father
Would it have saved me
Beaten at Xiangyang
Shangyong and Fangling
Deserted the Han
I came home defeated
Father
I pleaded my case
Father
I am so very sorry
You eat as a man
You dress as a man
You are no more
Then clay or wood
Father
Your words were cruel
Father
You condemn me to death
Uncle cost you Jing
You execute me for him
Liu Shan is your real son
He is the one you loved
Father
I was never a son to you
My time has come for me
To go to the Golden Springs
Goodbye Father
I wish I had made you proud
