Advent Calender Day 1: Write a fic about a first anything. So why not write about the first time Ryou turned into Yami Bakura?
Ryou stared at the item on display. He always liked it when his dad brought back things from various places to put in the museum. Especially since he always got to help set things up. And that also meant that he got to spend quality time with his father - something that he wasn't able to do often.
Well, that happened most of the time. It wasn't that his dad said no this time - Ancient Egypt wasn't a new subject matter, and therefore he knew how to properly setup these things. Yet, there was something about this one particular item that was already on display before he even arrived here.
No one seemed to pay any attention to it - they just walked by it as if it wasn't there. But it was interesting, maybe a bit too much.
First off, that one eye in the middle of the triangle that prevent it from resembling a choker… Ryou didn't know how to place it, but it did draw his attention. Almost as if he was just focusing on that one part of the item. As if nothing else existed of it…
'It's a shame that no one else pays attention to this.'
Ryou finally took his eyes off of the ring (or at least he thought it was a ring - there was nothing to clarify) to look for whoever told him that. But there was no one - he was truly isolated with that ring.
He focused his attention back on the ring, only now noticing that the little points where aimed at his direction.
That wasn't like this before...
Though, to be fair, he didn't know how it was before. He was just staring at the middle endlessly until it spoke out to him. But he could've sworn that when he initially saw it, those points where down.
'But you, you're different.'
And Ryou felt himself lifting up the the protective case that was around the ring. No one mind the sound of it falling to the ground.
Almost as if he was possessed, he picked up the ring and put it on. There was a sound of laughter, but it didn't matter. He wasn't in control anymore.

Ryou found himself in front of some of the findings that were brought back, along with some of the workers giving him even more stuff.
Why do I need this?
Some of the things were slabs written in hieroglyphics that he couldn't decode, while others were pieces of paper with Japanese on it, most likely translating what those slabs said. The one that he happened to be holding was one of those translated papers.
There was something about a pharaoh and something else... He couldn't understand the rest - it was written in a confusing way, almost like an inside joke.
"Anymore?" one of the workers asked. His voice was filled with fear for some reason. Ryou couldn't imagine the reason though - there wasn't anything threatening about a kid reading about the past. Then again, he didn't know how he got here - there was a blank between getting the ring and ending up here, and his mind couldn't make the gap.
Ryou shook his head. Quietly, he put the papers down and left the room, the ring's tips clanking on his chest.
