Flow

I don't own Ronin Warriors nor the song I Dive Into the River, so don't ask. If I can't have it, neither can you.

I'm always swimming from caves

The flow of the tide

Anubis stood on the bridge, watching as the five Ronins headed forth. He smiled as the pain shot through him, knowing that it was worth it. If he died, it would be worth it.

Kissing the life into something

That's already died

He wavered and swayed, gritting his teeth as he reminded himself it was to save the world. It was to help the Ronins defeat Talpa. He had to hang on as long as he could, but it was alright if he didn't make it.

I've been drowning forever

I'll let go

I dive into the river and flow

The power consumed him, and with a final breath, Anubis fell forward, flipping over the railing and hit the water head-first. He closed his eyes as the warmth surrounded him, and he let go.

You say that you could hear bells

In the traffic below

The water carried him downstream, flowing and lapping about him gently, and yet, he was never too far from the bridge. How long it had been since he fell off that bridge, he didn't know. It seemed like it had just happened and so many years before, all at the same time.

I could hear sirens

And car engines fighting the snow

The fish in the small stream swam up, holding him above the water for as long as they could, but he refused to budge. They eventually left him, defeated, his body sinking and flowing up onto the shore beside the bridge he had stood on.

I've been drowning forever

I'll let go

I dive into the river and flow

He laid there for so long, wondering if anyone was going to find him, come back for him. The fish didn't bother with him anymore, and there were no animals in the Dynasty, not lately.

Flow

Flow

Soft voices rang through the air, and Anubis could do nothing to fight against the strong arms that hauled him up. He faintly recognized the three voices, and yet, they were so far away. He could not answer their quiet questions.

I've been drowning forever

I'll let go

I dive into the river and flow

The three others carried him gently away from the bridge, from the stream and the Dynasty. They carried him to the Mortal Realm, and laid him on the forest floor he faintly recalled as being behind Miya's house.

I've drowning forver

I'll let go

I dive into the river and flow

He suddenly realized who had carried him there. The Ronins must have won against Talpa, the other Warlords must have been freed, must have been the ones to carry him here. And yet, Anubis could not express his gratitude.

Flow

Flow

Soft voices murmured in the air, and he was picked up again, then laid somewhere else. He belatedly realized why he could not speak, see, nor move. The Warlords were burying his dead body.

Flow

Flow

The earth felt warm, and Anubis let himself sink deeper into it. He accepted his death, knowing it had helped in the war against Talpa, and he laid still. It was all he could do.
