Sophie stared blankly at her breakfast. Why was Fitz being so rude lately? She did nothing wrong, yet he always gave Sophie dirty looks whenever she passed him. He wouldn't even talk to her! "Do you not like your food?", Edaline asked with worry. "No no, it's great. I'm just nervous.", Sophie said. "Aww don't worry, Sophie. I'm sure you'll do great on your finals. And you know, eating a good breakfast helps", chimed Edaline. "I know, I know, I think I'll be fine.", replied Sophie.

She got up from the table and hugged Edaline before she headed for the door. "Hey! You'll do great! I know it!", called Edaline as Sophie headed to the Leap Master. Grady waved to her as he finished up cleaning Verdi, the giant tyrannosaurus rex who lived at their sanctuary. Sophie smiled back as she put a shaking foot into the the path of light. Just avoid Fitz and you'll be fine, Sophie thought. If he's going to be rude, then I don't want him lowering my confidence on a big day like today.

Sophie reappeared at a shimmering crystal pyramid. As she entered, she saw everyone at their lockers, looking ecstatic as they opened their finals presents from the other prodigies. Fitz probably got me another pen since he clearly hates me right now, Sophie imagined. Dex and Fitz were both talking in the courtyard, but right as Fitz saw Sophie he glared at her and marched away.

"Sophie! Hey!", Dex called to her. "Do you know why he's acting like that?". Before she answered, she turned back and saw Fitz rejoin a group of level five prodigies. "No, I thought you would know", Sophie said, still staring at Fitz, who still looked mad. "He's not telling any of us, but it's something with you since he practically won't stand a foot near you", Dex replied. Before anyone could continue the conversation, the bell rang.

"Good luck Sophie!", Dex shouted to Sophie. "You too!", She called back. Her first test was Sophie's telepathy final. Sophie knew it would be a breeze, until she realized Fitz shared the same telepathy session with her. Instantly, Sophie felt like a million of pounds sat on her back. She took a deep breathe before entering the class. She pushed the wooden doors open into her class and stepped in.
