Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who. The idea of having the characters of a show respond to ships and FanFictions via letters is not my idea, either.
I saw a few of those "Dear FanFiction" types of fics floating around and decided to try my hand at writing one. However, it's quickly developed into something a bit... different than your everyday "Dear FanFiction" story. So, without further ado, here's my take on the 'Dear FanFiction' trope. Enjoy!
"Doctor."
"Doooctor."
"Doctor!"
The Ninth Doctor groaned, rubbing his smarting head with the palm of his hand. Every instinct was fuzzy, and, as such, he could not recognize the voice that called out to him in the distance.
"Hello?" he called back. There was no answer, no answer at all. Brow furrowing, he leaned forward, only to be greeted by a glowing computer screen. On it were the words, FanFriction dot Net. His gaze was startled upwards when something in the distance scurried past. "Hello?" he called again, trembling and disconcerted.
He let out a sigh and turned back to the glowing screen. "Do you want me to read this?" The silence seemed to speak; yes, Doctor, yes.
He sighed once more. "All right."
As the story pulled on, he began to grow much more comfortable. The shadows seemed like friends. Even the words were–
Wait.
WHAT?!
"What the bloody 'ell is this?" Nine fumed, scowling into the distance. "Did I read you right? Jack/Doctor? You think Jack and I should...?" Something flew towards him and smacked him in the face. Groaning, he sat up and peeled it off his face. He frowned. "Well, that's odd," he mumbled. "Dear FanFiction?"
Tell me a story, the distance crooned, and the Doctor sighed and did just that.
Did I read you right? Jack/Doctor? You think Jack and I should...?
Terribly sorry. I believe I just hallucinated. Should lay off the bananas in the future.
