Deeper Then You Think

Severus Snape might seem cold and cruel and heartless when you first meet him, but he's so much more than that. There's a certain depth in him that you can't see unless he lets you.

He is a mystery, even to me, I'm his wife. He's so unpredictable, constantly surprising me.

You might wonder how I came to be his wife. It wasn't easy, I'll tell you that. It took a long time for him to trust me enough to talk freely with me, and even longer for him to let himself love me.

To the untrained eye it might seem that there is no love in our relationship, but if you knew us, you could see that there is enough. (We have two kids, one boy, Ben, and one girl, Olivia, the perfect amount according to Severus, though he didn't say so in so many words.) We just don't show it so everyone can see. We have our little ways to show each other and that is enough. We love each other and we love our kids.

Severus might not be the most physical being; he just has to be in the right mood. (Like I said, we have two kids.) You'd be surprised to hear he likes to cuddle (though he'd never admit it). We do it quite often.

Now a relationship with Severus Snape does not come without complications. There is an almost endless list of his complexities. And I swear he has mood swings. One minute he would be funny in his normal unusual witty and snarky way, and the next he would storm out of the room completely furious.

He is also a man of few words. He doesn't say much but when he does, he sincerely means what he says. He expresses his love and affection to me and the kids in small gifts and gestures and simply said phrases.

The kids understand him quite well actually; they figured him out when they were very young. They knew how to get what they wanted from him. And though he would protest against it, he is wrapped so tightly around our daughter's finger she could probably get away with murder.

But as difficult as he can be some times, we all love him.

As I sit trying to find a way to explain how Severus works and they way he is, I find it is quite difficult to do so, as it would take ages to even scratch the surface. In order to fully understand him, you really have to get to know him. He's deeper than you think.

A/N: This is more of a stream of consciousness type of writing. It goes along with one of my many stories I'm working on. Not very long, not very good. I just sort of did it 'cause it kept bugging me until I wrote it.

Update (10/15/2014): I just wanted to say thank you to for their review. It was very sweet and it means a lot to me that someone thinks so well of this story. I don't think it is very good, but rereading it years later with a different perspective makes it better but now I know why other fanfic authors beg for reviews, it feels so great getting such positive feedback. So, thank you, kind stranger, for saying such wonderful kind words about my writing.
