Short drabble; I'm not too proud of this one, but I'm not really one to care since I finished this at 12-1 in the morning, yawning and feeling groggy.
Byakuya & Hisana :') I'll be making a Renji & Rukia one shortly!
Enjoy.
He casually slid the door open and quietly placed his papers on the low table near the bed. The darkness had grown on him, after many nights of no sleep; the diligent noble barraged himself in his office, finishing any work necessary, leaving his wife alone to sleep on several nights.
He had those moments when he wanted nothing more than to just head home and go to sleep. When he was just preoccupied with too much paper work, too much signing, too much glare from the ceiling light, too many voices and yelling from outside – in all – too much stress. During those days, he was exceptionally easy to annoy – a simple complaint will send the next 5 officers in hospital.
"It's okay. Go finish your work," Hisana would say, because truthfully, she understood his duties. There were many consequences to marrying a Soul Reaper, let alone, a noble one at that, and Hisana prepared herself. A few nights alone did give her time to finish her book (since most of the time, he demanded them to spend time together). Still, Byakuya knew his duties as a husband as well, and as much as he knows the maintenance of his work, he felt the pain of not seeing his wife several nights, the guilt of imagining her sleep alone crept through his mind day in and day out.
He sat on the edge of the bed, rotating his head and shoulders for a stretch, he released low groan from his lips as he pressed the back of his neck firmly. He felt Hisana move as she kicked gently from her blanket, her foot escaping from the comforter. He covered her foot again with the thick blanket before rising up to change.
"Welcome home," she quietly greeted as he emerged from the washroom in only his night clothes, a smile across his lips – though she might not have seen it – when he realized she was sitting up, holding the blanket close to her, waiting for him.
"Go to sleep, Hisana,"
"How was work?"
"Fine,"
He sat down again and flinched as he felt her small warm hands on his shoulders, compressing them with her hands.
"Hard day?"
He tilted his head to the side to let her press his neck as well and moaned.
"Very"
She steadily pressed his back with her fingers and massaged in circular motions, feeling the bone in his body. He hung his head low as she pressed the back of his neck with her thumb, closing his eyes in relaxation after a long day of looking at nothing but endless pages of reports. His wife was his saviour, he can open his eyes knowing he will be looking at Hisana and everything about her: her soft eyes, gentle smile and the way she rests her hand on his cheek to soothe him.
He gently pushed her hand off and slowly lied down on the bed facing up, then grabbing her hand; lead her to sit on top of him, directing her hands on his shoulders. Her small frame adjusted closer to him to reach his shoulders. Her hands relocated to his head, feeling their way towards his temples and in small circular motions, massaged lightly. She caressed and kissed his cheek, his eyes opening to see her smiling.
"I'm sorry, Hisana…"
She only nodded her head to forgive him, her smile that never seemed to fade from her pretty face. How he hated and loved it at the same time. She only endured so much for him, it was agonizing to him.
"Maybe if I give you more massages, you'll come home earlier?"
She snuck a joke that made him smirk, tapping his hand on her side of the bed for her to lie down.
Leaning over to tower her, he untied her robe, smelling the sweet scent of her neck, forcing a wince from her lips.
"We can do that…"
