I watched my beautiful young daughter Renesmee come towards my husband Edward and me with an innocent look on her face. I lifted her up and touched her hand to my face. I saw the memory of mine and Renesmee's furry friend Jacob leaving Forks to go to college. Then, a flash of white and a fuzzy picture, which meant that it was something that hadn't happened yet, of Renesmee holding a small black thing. The picture cleared a bit. Yes, it was a bull terrier puppy. All black, with a white spot on its chest. Nessie pulled her arm back. So she wanted a puppy. Something to fill the temporary emotional gap in her life he had made when he left. Not a bad idea. "Edward?" I asked, knowing he had already seen what I just had. His face looked thoughtful. "Well, Renesmee, a puppy is a big responsibility. Unlike you, it needs constant feeding and grooming." Renesmee opened her mouth to say something, but Edward already knew. "Yes, you miss Jacob. I know that. But since I love you so much, we'll keep it a topic of discussion." "Yeah, Ness. I wouldn't mind a puppy." I said. But what was really on my mind was: What if something goes wrong with the puppy? What if Renesmee……… No. I couldn't bear to let myself think it. I needed to talk this over with Edward. It was a good thing that Nessie was spending the night at Carlisle's place. That would give Edward and I some……… alone time.
