A Rainy Day in Mangnolia. (NaLu One-Shot)
Lucy's POV:
It was raining hard now. The wind kept blowing, trying to knock me down. I squinted my eyes trying to block out the weather, but at the same time see where I was going.
I clenched my fists as I kept them against my skirt to keep it from blowing.
My hair was draping down my shoulders sticking to my drenched clothes. I looked up to see how much farther I had until I reached my destination.
I could almost see the bridge that was in front of my house. I wanted to break into a sprint to get out of the down pour, but I wasn't wearing proper shoes. The shoes I was wearing would increase the chances of me slipping.
I had just started on my way back from the guild when it had started sprinkling. I almost chose to take an umbrella on my way home, but I had decided not to. Natsu had tried to convince me to take the item but I had declined refusably.
I regret that decision so much now.
The water looked like it could almost flood the streets with a few inches. I'm pretty sure Aquarius could survive in this state. I blinked a tear wishing I could just be home already. It had been a long day.
We had gone on a job that took must of the day. The rest of Team Natsu had destroyed half the city during our mission. Of course that was normal. Even though the job was so simple. Discover who was stalking a young princess. (The Princess was just a 11 year-old who came from a rich family).
It might not seem simple to some people, but it was for us. Although Natsu didn't want to wait around for the stalkers to come to us. So he searched the whole town to find them.
We only received half of the reward money.
I was nearing my house lost in thought. Drowning out the weather. I then heard a loud thud. I turned on my heal to see what it was. I noticed the pink hair and my eyes lit up.
It was Natsu.
"Natsu, what are you doing here?" I asked him as he walked up to me. "I knew you would need the umbrella." He gave me his signature toothy grin. I smirked back at him.
"Here." He put the red umbrella above both of our heads as he walked beside me to my house. "I was heading towards your house and I thought you'd might like to get out of the rain."
"Thank you so much." I looked back at him. He had a smile on his face, but he kept his eyes forward.
The rain still kept at it and so a lot of the droplets got on my legs. The wind started settling down a little bit since Natsu arrived. I shivered at the cold temperature of the water.
He looked back at me and his smile faded. He unwrapped his scarf with the hand that wasn't holding the umbrella as he handed it to me. My eyes widened at his actions. "Are you sure? This is so important to you though. Remember Igneel had given it to you."
"I have natural body heat, so I'll be fine. I trust you, Luce. And an important scarf belongs to an important girl."
I felt something within me. Something I never thought Natsu would show. Compassion.
