The golden haired shepherd lays so still, everything in his cave is asleep. He almost looks like a corpse, but only his heart continues to beat, his hair keeps growing, and sometimes his little finger stirs.
When the sun sets and stars appear, as the moon rises, a silver haired lady comes. She looks at the man adoringly, while her white fingers caress his face, overgrown hair and beard.
She cuts his hair first, slicks them back and shaves his beard. She loves to do these, it reminds her that her lover is still alive.
She opens his eyes somehow magically and looks at the sapphire eyes. She loves to look at them, even though they seem so cold and nearly extinguish her burning red ones.
Her pink lips travels along the man's own, his face, his neck, exploring the porcelain skin over and over. She lays down within him and whispers. Words of love, adoration and promises that breaks the silence, echoes in the cave.
That is a curse that causes the man to sleep forever, that keeps them apart, only allows the lady to see her lover only after the sun sets, it is just one thing.
Mortality.
He is a human. She is a goddess.
She first met him in this cave at night, when he was lost at the mountains. He couldn't find his home again but he found his true love. He was captivated by her hair made of moonlight, and her eyes made of rubies. They fell in love instantly.
The first night they met they made love in the cave. He didn't even had an idea of who she is, he couldn't even think of. But he loved her anyway, no matter what.
He loved her so much he gave up his afterlife. He wished to sleep forever, so he wouldn't die, and could keep his lover happy.
The sun would rise soon, so her soothing light fades. She kisses her lover goodbye, and leaves the cave. She will return when the sun sets again. She always returns. Until the end of the world, she promised.
Everything falls silent again in the cave. But just before the sun fully rises, a tiny smile appears on the still sleeping shepherd's lips.
