He sat silently, in pain. All he knew was that he was alone, just him. This boy was named Lucas.

Lucas woke up and looked around, "brother…" he whispered silently. He went down stairs to see his father, Flint.

"Morning, Lucas!" Flint greeted handing Lucas breakfast.

He sighed, "good morning."

"You got a letter today," Flint brought up a letter and showed it to the boy:

Dear Lucas,

You have been recognized to join the brawl! We have monitored you in Tazmilly for a while now. We hope you accept the offer. A portal will pick you up next week.

From, Master and Crazy Hand

"hmm…" Lucas studied this letter.

"You should join, son! Meet new people!" Flint exclaimed.

"okay," Lucas stated, running upstairs to pack.

A week had already passed and Lucas was very nervous. He waited out the door after saying goodbye to his father. The portal opened quickly, Lucas took a deep breath and walked in.

"This place is huge!" Lucas exclaimed, admiring his surroundings.

"Sure is!" a voice said behind him. Lucas jumped a bit at that.

"H-hi…" Lucas said, shyly.

"Hi! I'm Ness, what's your name?" the boy, Ness, asked.

"um…i-it's Lucas" he replied still very shy.

"Don't be so nervous!" Ness said, shaking Lucas' hand. Then, I struck them…PSI, they both had it. "Do you…have PSI?" Ness asked kind of shyly.

"um…yes, I do" Lucas replied very quietly.

"Me too!" Ness said. They decided to walk around for a while and travel the place.

After a while the roommates we're posted: Ness and Lucas.

"we're together! Great!" Ness exclaimed.

It had been one month since the start of it all and Lucas was less nervous. He won many brawls and loved being with his friends. But now it was over, a little short for him. An incident caused the fast end.

Everyone had their friend groups to say goodbye, all except Lucas. "Alone, like always…I'm always alone…" Lucas whispered.

"LUCAS!" Ness called, running towards him, "I was looking for you!"

"You…were?" Lucas asked, still in pain.

"Of course I was! You're my best friend!" Ness exclaimed.

"I guess, but you have better friends than me," Lucas sighed.

"What!? You're the first person I came to!" Ness shouted. He obviously thought highly of Lucas.

Lucas smiled, sadly, but still a smile. It was the first time Ness had seen him smile at all.

"Thanks" Lucas said in a bit happier tone.

"uh…For what?" Ness asked, very confused.

"For being my friend, most people ignore me," Lucas replied and explained his life.

"That's…sad" Ness said and wrote something down, "here, call me and we can talk!"

"O-okay," Lucas replied, taking the paper. The portals opened and they said their goodbyes, and set off.

"Lucas, you're home!" Flint exclaimed. Everyone in Tazmilly was there at a party….for him.

"Dad…" Lucas said, stunned from the surprise. 'And I thought only Fuel was my friend….thanks Ness' he thought, smiling.

Back at Ness' house, Ness was…well bored. "Ness, did you make any new friends there?" his mom asked.

"Yup, one is my best friend!" He exclaimed, looking up from his DS.

"What about Jeff?" his younger sister asked.

"Screw him, I have a new best friend." Ness replied and an idea came to him, "Be in my room, don't come in!"

Again, with Lucas, who sat in his room, just thought there until his phone rang. "uh…hello?" he answered to the call.

"LUCAS!" Ness screamed back.

"Hey, don't scream. I hear you just fine!" Lucas exclaimed.

Finally. He wasn't so alone as before. He had Ness.

(A/N: this captures more of Lucas' actual self than I use in other stories. Hoped you liked it!)
