They Will Find Him

Summary: As Nick's life hangs in the balance, Warrick is falling apart. WarrickNick-ish.

A.N.: This story will take place during the episode at some point or other. You can mentally place it where you want it to go. I don't have any quirks. (I always think after the locker room scene where Warrick's sitting on the bench).

Nick's been gone now over 15 hours. 15 hours, and all Warrick can do is sit in the locker room on the bench and cry. Cry over his best friend, his one true companion. And he feels helpless. He can't do anything. He can't sit still without going crazy. He wonders how Nick must feel; trapped in a box, underground, with only a gun and a few glow sticks for company.

Sara finds him ten minutes later, crouched against his locker, head in his arms, tears streaming down his face. She knows. She knows how much Nick means to him. She out right asked him, a couple of years ago, "Are you in love with Nick?" and rather than lie, he just nodded his head and she said nothing.

"Hey. Hey, shhh," she soothes, sitting down next to Warrick and pulling his head against her shoulder. "We're gonna find him. We're gonna find him and he'll be back to annoying us and teasing us in no time. Okay?" She tilts Warrick's head up to look at her and kisses his forehead when he nods.

"If anything happens to him, Sara...I don't know how I'd cope," Warrick whispers, clutching to her like she's his security blanket, and she supposes she is.

Warrick always comes to her if he needs help with anything, and even through all the animosity at the beginning, they're friends to the end.

"You'd cope." Sara swallows against the lump in her throat and chokes out, "We're going to find him." And now, she's convincing herself and Warrick because truthfully, she doesn't know if they will anymore. It seems every lead is a dead end waiting to laugh in their faces.

"We'll find him," Warrick echoes and whether he's saying to convince himself they will, Sara doesn't know. He sits back up and rests his head against his locker. "We'll find him." He clutches her hand. They will find him.
